Hello All! Welcome to the OCWP group!

Jeff and I have been discussing a few topic ideas for the first meeting. Please leave a comment with any topics you are interested in discussing. Please also let us know your WP experience level.

I consider myself an advanced beginner. Started with Wordpress.com, then realized how limited it was, so migrated to self-hosted. I do all my own work on it (and it shows!) Not as pretty as I would like, so am looking into changing themes and doing some remodeling.

Would love to talk about evaluating and choosing themes! Without having to actually install and test, how can you tell if it is likely to work the way you want?

I use WordPress to power several of my own web sites, and have also used it as a base CMS for client sites. I've done theme design, and am just delving into writing plug-ins.

Here's a quick thought on an agenda for this meeting:
1. Setting up a self hosted wp site on godaddy (steve - 15 mins)
2. My favorite wp theme (jeff - 15 mins)
3. Plugin demo (jeff - 20 mins)
4. The basics of how to create a plugin (steve - 25 mins)
5. Q&A

My goal for this first meeting is to have a little something for everyone. In future meetings, we will get a bit more focused.

Looking forward to seeing everyone this Wednesday. This is shaping up to be a great first meeting! I am planning on picking up some basic munchies and drinks. Vicki also said she'd bring some wine and munchies. The more food and drink, the better. If you plan on bringing something, please let me know.

I've decided I'm not going to do a Plugin demo... instead I'm going to lead a discussion about what's missing in the way of plugin's. This should lead well into Steve's "How to create a plugin" segment.

I have felt like a lone WP users for so long. This group is an answer to prayer and it's close to home. I am not at the stage of creating plugins- I still need to learn how to apply them to my site. Each have different parameters. I'll bring some treat to share as well as I am glad to help others with questions about promotions and PR. Cindy, It will be great to catch up with you tomorrow night. Are there any specific plugins that you are currently struggling with? We have a pretty full schedule, but if I can fit in some advice, I will.
