I have created a private group called "OC Wordpress" on Facebook. Message me on FB for an invite.

If you only want to store a certain amount of drafts, you can add this line to your wp-config.php file

    define('WP_POST_REVISIONS', 3);

If you want to turn revisions off all together this will do the trick:

    define('WP_POST_REVISIONS', false);

In asking about a plugin for optimizing wordpress by removing excess drafts and revisions. Someone suggested WP DBManager but it hasn't been updated in 204 days. I will also post this to plug in discussion page here on meetup

We DO have a recommended plug-in page both here and on, oh great, now I can't find the Buddy Press site that Steve set up for us, maybe it has been taken down? It was something like ocwordpress.com (spanish site) It wasn't very active.

Thank you for your hospitality. You had a fun meet up. It's great that you can bring us together so we can learn from each other.

Suggestion to help organize us might be a private facebook group. I only recommend it be private because that will reduce spammy spammers. Within FB groups you can create documents etc.... just my $.02.

I also can't sit on the floor like I used to, which is another thing that's kept me from going once or twice.

    April 26, 2011

  • Kat

Oh, that sounds nice. Maybe we can have a recommended plugins page somewhere.

Sadly I didn't make it again last night. I NEED to make the next one. I feel so out of the loop and so out of touch.

It was the first time I attended and am thrilled to have found this awesome group. Loved the presentation and the participation. Hope to see and meet all of you soon again.

Another great meetup of the great WordPress minds of So Cal! Thanks to Steve and Jeff T. for presenting. As always, the "after party" at House of Brews capped things off nicely.

    Great Meet Up...once again! Thanks!

Steve, I just noticed a note here that you would be posting plug-ins from the last meeting and Kathy posting a request for a list of plug-ins that "everyone" uses. Our discussion board on plug-ins is somewhat neglected. The last time we touched on Facebook Like was the month it became available. Finally - looking for your favorite plug-in to remove excess drafts and revisions of posts and pages.

Hi.... Is this meeting by any chance available online like via a Webex?

    1 · April 25, 2011

  • Paul

Absolutely. How to interact with javascript. That would be a great topic. I second that.

    April 25, 2011

  • Jon B.

I'm going to miss this month's meeting, but for next month I'd love it if someone would talk about how to best incorporate a little javascript into a wordpress post/page without a plugin. For example when someone just want's an image to change on mouse over (and for some reason couldn't do it with pure CSS)

Ryder, I will make sure that we make time to cover multisite. I will get a discussion about email form plugins as well as there are several choices. Not sure we will have enough time to cover FB integration, but I will try.

    April 25, 2011

  • Ryder S.

We were going to cover multi-site last meeting, but ran out of time. It would be great to hit on that tonight. Also, would love a rundown on a couple email form plugins and basic config on those. Plus, a review of the more advanced FB intgrations using the API tools would be interesting. Compare and contrast with plug-ins that claim same features.

As usual, we need chairs. Please bring along a folding chair if you are able to.

Feel free to call me tomorrow to discuss. [masked]

I'm not really sure, but I'll ask him. I only know they have a company (Rosetta) that handles most their current blogs, and even though I'll be handling this set of blogs moving forward, I think Rosetta will still be in charge of the backend. The only thing I know is that Rosetta has their blogs locked down like a bank vault.

So multisite would be the fastest way to roll out 100 - 1000 blogs quickly? If so, I'll look into that.

And look forward to hearing about the plugins.

    April 24, 2011

  • Steve Z.

For the meeting tomorrow, I have a few practical uses to demo for some of the plugins discussed last month.

    April 24, 2011

  • Steve Z.

I just realized that I never posted the list of plugins form last month's meeting! So Sorry. I will post it tomorrow.

    1 · April 24, 2011

  • Steve Z.

Rolling out your blogs sounds to me like more of a hosting question than a software question. I am assuming you are using multisite?

    April 24, 2011

  • Kat

Thanks Steve, hopefully I can make it this time. They actually are self-hosted. They're just looking for an easy way to roll out 100 to 1000 blogs when the time comes. I don't know of anything like that, which is why I inquired here. I love this group. :)

Ok, then PollDaddy it is. Thanks again, and hope to see you all tomorrow! :D

    April 24, 2011

  • Steve Z.

Kathy, let's discuss your needs further at the meeting. It sounds like you need a self hosted solution.

PollDaddy is the best I have found. The 3rd party poll olivine leave a lot to be desired.

    1 · April 24, 2011

  • Kat

Anyone know if this would be a good site to manage say?100 blogs or roll out 1,000 blogs? http://www.wordpressdirect.com/...

And which poll plugins does everyone use, and approve of? I'm looking at PollDaddy, and although nice, I feel there's better out there. Thanks!

Is anyone presenting anything specific? (aside from Jeff's embed?)

    April 23, 2011

  • Jeff T.

I'm going to demo an embed that works the way an embed should work inside WP.

    April 21, 2011

  • Steve Z.

Jeanette, Linda is absolutely right! :)

    April 21, 2011

  • Jeff H.

I'll bring my iPad2 and my Jambox and we can Facetime.

    April 21, 2011

  • Linda S.

How is that going? That should be feasible.

    April 21, 2011

  • Jeff T.

I will have to join this one via Skype, or some other video chat platform.
