I would agree to a newcomer it is overwhelming especially the menu system. Even Matt mullenwing the founder of wordpress sees it has to be a better experience at least for mobile. The menus are too feature rich.

Hey Steve, Just sayin, it's hard for me. With iweb I could do the drag and drop. Sounds like a dance of sorts. I just think I need help. I have most of the content. I know what I want it to look like. I need plug ins and drop downs etc.

@Dorie - Where are you at in your process? Do you have a website host? Is WordPress already running somewhere and you just need to customize it? Do you have a theme developed or in mind? Do you need extra functionality beyond what is built-in? It might be worth talking to a firm like http://pixeljar.net/contact-us/ that specializes in custom WordPress websites and tailors the functionality exactly to your needs.

What part of WordPress is not easy? The content management side is made to be very easy. Developing themes and plugins requires some programming knowledge.

DORIE, Don't feel alone. Wordpress is not easy. I had iweb, it was easy. Wordpress, not.

Where is the next meeting open for beginners? I tried to set up a wordpress by myself and failed times. As you can see I am not a computer person. I am an award winning fashion designer, designing winning pageant gowns and wedding gowns for a living.
I would love to learn workpress so I can change edit, upgrade my images, information, lattest information, promotional deals. These are the areas I need to know that all I need like using facebook. It makes my life so fulfilling. Help!

Roxanna, this meetup is intended to be for developers (lots of code type things being presented). You might be more interested in our non-developer meetup that happens in the same location on the last Monday of every month. That being said, we'll welcome you with open arms tonight as well.

I'm a Mac user. Which WordPress templet allows me to put my portfolio online with dropdowns, 50ish photos, Shopping cart, contact me, Buttons/widgets for Facebook etc. I'm an artist, faux painter, have a non-profit, sell paint and have vacation rentals in Big Bear Lake. I'm switching because Apple took away iweb. I need help!
