An Adventure In Tea

Ready for a tea adventure? Our October tea meetup is for those of you who are willing to step out of the box of the normal “British High Tea” experience, have lots of curiosity and enjoy a variety of flavors bursting on your tongue as you try different bites of this and that. If you are into organic, gardening, and the freshest ingredients, this month’s tea is for you.

We will be meeting at “The Growing Home”, a Permaculture garden located in a regular neighborhood suburb of Diamond Bar, where the entire yard, front, sides and back have been turned into a sustainable garden bursting with vegetables, fruits and even chickens. This is a private, simple home that is like a mini farm in a way. No dress up for this event, just jeans, sneakers or comfortable flat shoes.

When you arrive you will be welcomed with a refreshing beverage and we will take a hands on tour of the garden where you will learn about what Permaculture gardening is all about. See spiral brick herb gardens easy to do yourself. You will get to smell and sample various items in season such as curry leaves, sampling exotic fruit, lemon grass, and whatever is ripe on our visit. After a brief tour, we will gather on the covered patio where we will start with tea and Pumpkin Soup made fresh from the garden.

Open faced tea sandwiches featuring items grown from the garden follow, including an egg salad made from fresh organic eggs accompanied by whatever fresh veggies are available for a salad on the day of our visit.

During the tea service we will have a Chai Tea tasting. Several different combinations will be offered and we will offer our hostess, Pearl, our thoughts on our favorites. Expect some Darjeeling and perhaps an herbal tea from fresh herbs from the garden such as lemon grass or mint.

Fresh fruit samplers will follow with whatever is ripe and ready in the garden on the day of our visit. We will finish off with Indian cookies, and Shrikad, which is an Indian style cheesecake dessert.

I have visited and sampled the items we will be having and everything was very delicious and super fresh. This venue is best described as rustic, so don’t expect matching china, etc, just expect a fun experience. This is a little farther out of the way than some of our regular haunts, but as I mentioned, it’s for those of you with a sense of adventure.

Cost of this tea is $36.40 and payment should be sent via Paypal, www.paypal.com  [masked].  You do not have a secure reservation until I have received payment and this venue is a limited number. So if you RSVP yes and don't pay and someone on the wait list pays, you will be moved to the wait list and the paid reservations will be moved to going.

As always, if you have your emails set to no emails, I can not accept your reservation as I am unable to contact you. This promises to be a popular event, I encourage you to pay with your RSVP yes. Refunds will be offered if you can't attend and someone on the wait list takes your place.

The food was superb, all fresh from the garden, organic and delicious! The Shrikhand with Pomegrante was Nirvana. The garden tour was fascinating, tasting fresh picked herbs and fruits to taste. As always the company was grand!
