M0TBPV:

MKFQY7:
See http://1.JotHere.com/965#MNCK5C --just follow that link for details on this occurrence, plus all before & after, including all current & historic changes & traditions

MKFRD3: Note several mobile web browsers, when following a link/URL, strip the link's bookmark/anchor (which is the URL text starting "#..") so in the opened web page page position it at the start instead of scrolling it to the desired point.
MKFRIB: to fix this, get a web browser which doesn't have this bug or else search & position to the anchor point manually.
MMIWYG: -we realize there “it's hard to see the forest (current details) due to the trees (all historic details)” +other formatting woes; so the formatting will eventually be improving, and in rather exciting ways (as auto-generated listings).

MFMB3V: Event listing history, in order:

MGEL2O: starting from listing creation, all authoring by I DestinyArchitect except if noted otherwise.rior link above; added new leader Greg Stringer as an additional event host (are auto-RSVPed yes); added organizer instructions q(MV9D82:  Only the creator of this listing should edit it unless written permission otherwise.); pst2013.10.25Fri2119.

MFRJYT: This listing is a copy of the prior listing (#69) & so on; so, for prior change/history entries here, see those.
MV9D40: Updated the title (from #69) to present plus updated the pd
N1F9PO: Change title fr(OCAndroid Main Meetup #70(training4 coders+users, hacking, &more via cmts!)+) to present.
N202SU: Cleaned up listing formatting; added topic (Glass) pic.; pst2014.03.05Wed2153.

Hi everyone! My name is Ben, I'm a developer for Google Glass. I've been developing since I got my hands on the device back in late February. For all of you aspiring developers for Google Glass, it's a very challenging device to develop for, especially since it's a prototype technology that's SDK isn't even completely finished yet. Developing for Glass is challenging, but designing for the device is even harder, especially with the fairly small display, Google's strict guidelines, and heavy emphasis on UX.

I talked to Michael today at PeopleSpace, and I'm more than happy to do a talk on what it's like developing for Glass, things to keep in mind, and more. I can go ahead and start this talk at 6:00 and won't go later than 7:00. I'll also be happy to demo my Glassware and talk about the perspective of the device from a developer's standpoint.

And also, I'll have my Glass, ready for you guys to play with :)

    Best,
    Ben

ANOTHER MTG TOPIC (as time & interest as this is a leader topic) NEW SOLUTION FOR PROCESSING MEMBER APPS & KEEPING UP TO STANDARD: linking applicants to the article “How to get accepted & kept in your chosen quality Meetup group” http://1.JotHere.com/4343#N2071... (being 1st announced at this mtg!) --put all on that here in this thread

    March 6

    • DestinyArchitect

      *This thread's URL: http://meetup.com/OCA...
*“N23HAS At the meeting, among us leaders (I, Martin, & Lucy), I brought this up and they looked it over talked about 30min on it which was useful, and though a bit painful at first, rather productive; and, after a rough start, though my bouncing back from the painful (as rather unbalanced harsh-negative) criticisms of it, and then taking up Martin's good idea & suggestion, I came up & worked out especially with him some good improvements to it for me to further develop and then us to give them a try.”
**Because it's especially tough to write & link-to items here, plus impossible to edit later, plus this is a lot of leader stuff, I will instead put what happened here in the article's entry for this announcement http://1.JotHere.com/... -check back in a few days and I should have those details there.

GOOGLE GLASS -A HANDS-ON DEMO INCLUDING LIVE ANDROID SYNC + POSSIBLE-CLOUD SYNC, by my bud JH http://meetup.com/members/10587...
*I just met up w/my years-long bud JH and he showed me&had me try on his Google Glass http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Go... he just got yesterday _even tho it's not yet generally publicly released_ incl he had it VOICE CONTROLLED+syncing real time & DISPLAYING WHAT IT SEES LIVE on his Android ph, ON HIS HUGE SAMSUNG NOTE II http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sa... --all very impressive!
*+he says he can give us a hands-on demo during our main mtg! -this 1 or next.
**This is big enough I replied I'd be willing to move our main mtg date somewhat to fit his sched; +he'd be driving to us from UCLA(much thx)!
**Moreover, as I just SMSed him, quote( if around 17th it be perfect needed timing to both boost [main mtg ]attendance(very much needed) + get volunteers for [our ]Feb22-23 SCaLE booth[ http://meetu.ps/xNgM0 ]. 7:49 PM) :-)

    February 1

    • DestinyArchitect

*As he promised, we expected speaker JH on his way here (driving from all the way from UCLA).
*But because of looking-like significant(2) no-shows (which indeed happened http://meetup.com/OCA... ), to then possibly save him at least some of the trip,
      **I SMSed him quote(
      3/6/14 8:36 PM 20 hours ago

Me: Where are u as far as ur trip down here? -if u can firmly set ur 2nd Glass at OCAndroid demo date, I might have another option for u. 7:09 PM
) **Then getting no reply (as he was driving), I called him: “3/6/14 7:21 PM 21 hours ago 6 minutes long”
***He answered. Indeed now was all the way to GG (maybe 2/3rds of the distance). When he heard the news he was quite upset, but stopped driving and said yes, either tonight or tomorrow he would contact me with a replacement date for his demo.

      March 7

    • DestinyArchitect

*so about hr later, JH so I SMS:
JH: I can do 3/27/2014 after work again like tonight. 8:29 PM
Me: Ok, Martin & I are good for this so we'll do it: it will be on http://meetup.com/OCA... - stay tune for updates there! 8:36 PM
*So then when we exited the venue at 9:55pm, with the cashier I reserved it again: from pic 20140306_215658.jpg:
      **2014.03.24(Mon#4)1730-2130 for http://meetup.com/OCP...
      **2014.03.27(Thu#4)1730-2130 for http://meetup.com/OCA...
****For this Google Glass redo, which I've this afternoon also listed there, too, but point back to this thread for the presentation discussion since it didn't happen this 1st time so then to reuse this thread rather than have to create a new one there.

Avram Grossman http://meetup.com/OCAndroid/mem... PARTICIPATION & REVIEW OF THIS EVENT --put all on that here in this thread
*I have no recall of him b4; he just joined "Jan 18".
*On "Feb 12, 2014 8:32 AM" he RSVPed YES here giving in RSVP Qs:
    **his phone # (thanks) and
**to q(Did you include a constructive ideally-enthusiastic comment in your public RSVP saying especially WHY you’re RSVPing NO or MAYBE or YES? –put it there, please. If RSVPing NO, see http:\..) said “Wanting to learn to develop on Android - experienced with Windows Mobile and web apps.”)
**Thanks. Actually that nice response goes in u"your public RSVP" (so as a comment here in this ur participation-thread u ideally create for urself)
*So we quite looked fwd to 1st seeing him,
**esp as this particular mtg with so few(just 3 non-ldr) YES RSVPs(as expected,&temporary) so as we posted here http://meetup.com/OCAndroid/eve... we'd delayed it if not for his YES RSVP.

    March 7

    • DestinyArchitect

      *This thread's URL: http://meetup.com/OCA...
*But even nearing 1hr after event start, nobody had seen&nor heard fr him.
*So I stopped&attempted to reach him as fast as possible, creating a Google contact for him then SMS&called his 94x.xxx.xx94 quote(
      3/6/14 6:56 PM 20 hours ago
Me: Avram, u RSVPed YES for http://meetup.com/OCA... so we're holding this mtg now (5:30pm-~9:30pm) and waiting for u. When soon can u reply comment there with ur ETA? -so we all know when u'll arrive. -Destiny 6:24 PM
[Not hearing back, we then called him & left vmail “ 6:50 PM 20 hours ago 1 minute long” then SMSed again:]
Me: Just at 6:50pm left u vmail with everyone here saying Hi to you. We would have delayed this mtg but since u RSVPed YES we held it; indeed JH is even driving down from LA to demo Glass, so looking forward to ur reply posts cmts of when u'll be here and hope u'll make it. 6:54 PM

      March 7

    • DestinyArchitect

Avram Grossman: At home with a cold 6:52 PM
Me: Sorry to hear and really, wish u had updated ur RSVP. Honestly, we would have postponed the whole mtg had u done that. Per my first SMS, "When soon can u reply comment [on [same URL] with this news]?" 6:56 PM
      )quote
*Well Avram still he never replied, including never replied posted (so now I'm having to do it for him). And while this fine if he was sick that night, why not then this next day today?
*Avram, because of ur YES RSVP, all 4 us leaders+speaker busted butt this event, a near ½ especially for u: so please see my note on what your no-show did http://meetup.com/OCA... then kindly Reply on here your thread.

      March 7

  • DestinyArchitect

Sonny Ochoa http://meetup.com/OCAndroid/mem... PARTICIPATION & REVIEW OF THIS EVENT --put all on that here in this thread
*I first met him, and I recall his lovely girlfriend, at our SCaLE12x booth http://1.JotHere.com/3999#N17IC... 2014.02.23Sat1624 where, already a Meetup member (he eventually recalled) he then joined our group notably to RSVP for this event. I was delighted.
*So we quite looked fwd to 1st seeing him,
**esp as this particular mtg with so few(just 3 non-ldr) YES RSVPs(as expected,&temporary), indeed as we posted here http://meetup.com/OCAndroid/eve... we would have delayed this mtg if not for his YES RSVP.

    March 7

    • DestinyArchitect

      *This thread's URL: http://meetup.com/OCA...
*But even nearing 1hr after event start, nobody had seen&nor heard fr him.
*So I stopped&tried2reach him fast as possible, creating a Google contact 4him then, since @SCaLE he just gave email, posted a “6:27 PM” Greet on his profile then also emailed him quote(
Date: Thu, Mar 6, 2014 at 6:48 PM
Subject: Sonny, urgent: your meeting is now 5:30pm-9:30pm
      To: [masked]>
N21ORD: Did u see my Greet on ur profile http://www.meetup.com...(
Sonny, URGENT: u RSVPed YES for http://meetup.com/OCA... we're holding this mtg now (5:30pm-~9:30pm) and waiting for u. Pls don't no-show. When soon can u reply comment there with ur ETA? -so we all know when u'll arrive.
      Mar 6, 2014 9:27 PM)
I would SMS u but don't have ur cell. Can you share that? -hope to see u as we kept this instead of delaying it especially due to ur yes RSVP.)

      March 7

    • DestinyArchitect

But Sonny never showed; and still now, 24hrs later, 0 reply: even wrose than Avram (who at least told his status when he SMSed him.)
*Very disappointing, Sonny. Especially when I personally helped you out and set u up at SCaLE. As,
*Sonny, because of ur YES RSVP, all 4 us leaders+speaker busted butt this event, a near ½ especially for u: so please see my note on what your no-show did http://www.meetup.com... then kindly Reply on here your thread.

      March 7

  • DestinyArchitect

Meeting starting in ~20min. AS ALWAYS, please bring your laptops & devices for working on Meetup & Android, plus any portable wi-fi hotspots you have.

    March 6

    • DestinyArchitect

Lucy & Destiny arrived here at ~5:35pm and have set up everything & ordered our 1st large pizza, More folks on their way.

    • DestinyArchitect

      NO-SHOWS: *ALL*(2)NON-LEADER NON-PRESENTERS!
*It was the 2 1st timers:
**Avram Grossman http://meetup.com/OCA... (he did finally reply "At home with a cold 6:52 PM" but by then it was too late)
      **Sonny Ochoa http://meetup.com/OCA...
*NO-SHOWS,u cost us all notably here.
      Be alert&considerate that:
**when an event has low YES RSVPs as this had(just 6 total), then ur YES RSVP really counts so make it else update&say here b4 so hosts may reschedule.
***As we hosts almost did cause of low RSVP YES
      ****&unless u mucked w/ur comm settings http://Meetup.com/OCA... , Meetup sent u that post: http://meetup.com/OCA...
****as u cd guess fr that, WE'D HV DELAYED THIS MTG IF NOT UR YES RSVP.
*But since u no-showed,3 ldrs came,+speaker JH drove 1/2way here from UCLA! -not good.
      **Apologize.

Knowing I'm researching a multi-boot live USB creators http://1.JotHere.com/MRPDRR (click to request access), to create a fairly universal multi-distro for me & many to carry around,
fellow leader Bill http://meetup.com/OCAndroid/mem... emailed me today q(Sat, Nov 23, 2013 at 1:51 AM) quote(
    subject: Boot ISO from phone
This will avoid having to build a multiboot menu system on a thumb drive -- You pick the ISO right on the phone, then boot from that.
    https://play.google.com/store/ap... )
-I'm reposting it here per our guideline & rule of ~"communicate via post wherever practical"

    November 23

    • DestinyArchitect

      *This thread's URL http://meetup.com/OCA...
      *Nice work, Bill!
**How were you referred to this? -as by what URL?
**Yes a very innovative approach (using a mobile OS device, as your smartphone, as your USB drive), one I've never heard of till you've shared me this
**so I've added it as new point MWQ8J2 (see my crediting you and responses there) of sheet http://1.JotHere.com/... ,
***and so you can see & comment, given you [masked] comment access to that spreadsheet.
****if it works for you, I'd love you to give it a spin and post your comments on that row of the spreadsheet else here and I'll update the info. For instance,
***I don't yet see if it's multi-boot or not, including Google Search(drivedroid multi) doesn't find me a clear statement on it.

      November 23

    • DestinyArchitect

*I've put this on our calendar at http://1.JotHere.com/...
      *Bill,
**await ur replies here to the Qs in my last comment on this thread.
**Since you know most about this but, per http://meetup.com/OCA... , can't make this meeting, I've scheduled it for our next mtg http://1.JotHere.com/... –see ya there & hopefully u can present on it.

      March 5

  • Bill Z.

Sorry, can't make the 6 March meeting either, due to obligations with my other Thursday group.

    March 5

    • DestinyArchitect

      *This thread's http://meetup.com/OCA...
      *Bill,
**Thanks for keeping us informed & on why.
      **Sorry u can't make this (um, 3x in a row?) We'll miss u.
**On this listing you've got 3 threads covering your participation (attendance) & potential-review of this; I realize that's new one for each time this event moved; still, in the future, per our convention, pls keep this all to a single thread (1 thread per listing per each person's participation & review of the event). Thanks.

      March 5

  • Bill Z.

Sorry for the late change! I'm entertaining the sister in north LA, and won't be able to make the meeting.

    February 17

(Only applies to 17 Feb. Meetup has since moved. )

    WHEN
*It's now 17:20 hrs before start time, and we just have 4 RSVP YESes & all leaders (so were automatically RSVPed. And I suspect our notably low RSVPs YES are because of the holidays (plus new members needing processing -I'm working on that http://meetup.com/OCAndroid/eve... but results will take weeks at least).
*So, at ~noon, UNLESS Replies here reasonably objecting plus ideally more YES RSVPs, I WILL MOVE THIS FORWARD 1 MONTH:
    **From today 2013.12.09(Mon#2) to 2014.01.13(Mon#2).

    December 9

    • DestinyArchitect

      Karmen,
**delighted to see you came again! And made this post you were there! Plus delightfully the venue also let me know (when I just called them, N1619D in next cmt); yes I wish we had enough RSVP YESes then to have it then!
**A good rule of thumb is especially for any event has low YES RSVPs, before you leave to it, reload the official event listing page to see any updates: would have saved u a trip here!
***This also works great if you arrive there but don't find anyone, as it seems you smartly did.
**We quite look forward to seeing you again, especially at this event when it happens shortly! Lucy well remembers you and regularly asks about you.

      February 17

    • DestinyArchitect

MOVED from today 2014.02.17Mon to 2014.03.07Thu
      *Per
**Our understandably so far low RSVPs YES
***Just 1 non leader Avaram http://meetup.com/OCA... -thanks!
***as to be expected as the huge dam of pending members hasn't yet been released, though I'm making progress http://meetup.com/OCA...
**and esp JH's call back N160DL http://meetup.com/OCA... saying he can present Glass for us 2013.03.07Thu!
*I just called our venue, call N1619D, and Jose answered.
**He did this venue rescheduling no problem
**He let me know a Mexican woman & her daughter (didn't have their names) came last Mon (thanks, Jose): we figured it was indeed Karmen: my previous cmt here.

**When are you estimated to get better? Also:
**There are workarounds & no shame to use them; &as always, we're here to help:
***Do you need a wheelchair? This venue is wheelchair accessible with a wheelchair table. Will that work?
***Do you need a ride? We would tie you up with one of our other attendees. And depending on your injury & situation, you might be eligible for cheep or free transport.
