At our OCAndroid Main Mtg now http://meetup.com/OCAndroid/eve...
he now tells me at he was here just on Saturday

OCAndroid's "hand-picking" who's a mbr is really working, esp as I witnessed here!
*To be a mbr of our group, for 2yrs now I've been unique:set&enforced the basic requirement everyone complete all our few profile Qs,with the"toughest" being simply MFWPic (a mbr has 2hv their pic published here to stds else provide a approved reason for waiver).
**This has taken me MANY hrs/mo to enforce(pls volunteer 2help!), esp telling many who didn't follow our app dirs to now follow em, which gets some wrongfully upset at me and even results in sometimes us not letting-in someone even tho 1of us referred him/her (as so far happened most recently w/ Troy Smith http://meetup.com/OCAndroid/eve...
) and ~1/3rd of our applicants never comply so don't get in.
**But,as I long anticipated,it PAYS OFF BIG! -as I've never seen more strongly&amazingly demonstrated than at this our event here, as I explain in my next sub-comment here.

member Nathan Haines http://meetup.com/OCAndroid/mem...
attendance & review of this.
*In exploring the exhibit hall on Sunday else Saturday, I first saw him manning (& perhaps overseeing) the Ubuntu booth.
**I think there he had the ability or demo to install Ubuntu on Android devices!
*As our old timers already know, for months Nathan ran Ubuntu Hour of Lake Forest about every 2 weeks which he & I listed on our calendar http://google.com/search?q=inur...
as another great event for our members (as Ubuntu is the most popular desktop flavor of Linux, and Android is derived from (& returning to) Linux.
*Since Nathan was one of our members attending this SCaLE11x, I just added him here as attending.
**Nathan, in the future, be sure to add your RSVP YES. Indeed, will you be going to next SCaLE http://meetu.ps/xNgM0
? -if YES or even a 1% MAYBE, RSVP YES now with comment!

*THX ESP2 OCAndroid BOOTH WORKERS FOR PROMOTING THIS at SCaLE. U got signups! &OCPython mbrs sd appreciate u&I just announced 2them of ur work incl to the 15+ RSVPed YES attendees http://meetup.com/Orange-County...
*YOU PROBABLY WANT TO ATTEND THIS, TOO --that is if you ever plan to work with Python or a web backend, or just want to know what's cool with web backends, or u just want to know about the OCPython group u promoted incl at one of our best meetings. So join OCPython now & RSVP YES.
**Bill said he will tonight!
**(Yes,u cd come as my guest, but that's a little complex for me,+doesn't get u on the attendee list,+doesn't allow u to post&get notified on all the event discussion.)
February 25
At SCaLE, what possible future activities for OCAndroid, OCPython, & our other we represent did you find? And what about the ones you find at our future events? Simply post each of them as a single top-level comment on the matching group's event listing, plus a few more details to make them shared& happening, per the directions I wrote this morning for everyone "Discovering future activity opportunities (at SCaLE visits and at at any of our events)" http://1.JotHere.com/3999#MISDX...
-please read, and reply there else to-this-thread with comments. It also covers searching for activities, too, and was inspired by Martin yesterday delightfully finding us a possible activity(on Mozilla),&sharing it w/me, so a guide for him&all-of us to well search&post for activities for us, modeled after the 2 of the possible future activities for us I found at SCaLE & posted. So lkgFwd2 his & everyone's activity proposal discussion threads! And thanks to Martin & all others finding us future activities.

PAPER HANDOUTS (as biz cards) FOR OUR BOOTH
*When I arrived Sat at out our booth, doh, I forgot any handouts.
*OCPHP & OCDrupal had a combined 5in*5in flyer but I think biz cards wd be better.
*I think biz cards wd be good. We need a sheet of biz cards 2x5 on a page, one page for "OCAndroid and another for OC-Python (note different spelling. Something is a LOT better than nothing. But I don't have time to design.
*LUCY, could you make a draft, and put it in the the shared Google folder we set up? Then I'll review, tell any changes, & print, for tomorrow morning's exhibit.
February 23
This was my 10th year but my first as an Exhibitor. They had many fine sessions but I wish they had a Mobile/Embedded track concentrating on Android etc. (Truthfully, I was asked to help organize such a track but I started too late in the year.)
February 25
Visiting 2:30pm to now is our good ol member Raul http://meetup.com/OCAndroid/mem...
also attending SCaLE so I RSVPed him Yes (even if one is not doing our booth, if a member, please RSVP here as more YES attract more YES). Great to see you, and thanks for signing up for our Google App Engine presentation Tue1830-2130 in OCPython http://meetup.com/Orange-County...![]()

My own (Destiny's) attendance thread http://1.JotHere.com/3999#MICNR...
--ya know, insuring all attendees are first taken care of (as is typical of me), I forgot to create this for myself.
February 22
I always attend on Sat and Sunday. Sometimes the opening Fri. I have attended all but the first so this will be my 10th year.
February 21
Hey, I'm from Lake Forest and just got signed up to OCAndroid at this the SCaLE booth!
February 23
COOL PARTY I'M helping organize (promoting) tonight "Feb24Sat6pm Brentwood Poly Family's Huge Poly Pool Party #9 http://meetu.ps/vYhp4
-- already over 300 people RSVPing YES
*Much as I love the SCaLE this will almost certainly beat Games Night (unless ur just into video games, and my bud Bill loves em a lot, yet he's still joining me)
*Catering especially to newcomers but everyone's there, this is annual party in its 9th occurrence is a MUST-SEE for anyone in SoCal possibly curious about polyamory (one of the RESPONSIBLE forms of open-relationships; hey, just as we make our software open, make your relationships open, too! -actually rather seriously (open-source software wasn't intuitive for most us coming from proprietary, either; many don't get it at first look). And even if it's not your thing, u WILL learn stuff u can apply in monogamy&other romance by checking it out.
*RSVP either on that my re-listing else reply here(or just tell me privately if u're shy) and come as my guest!
February 23
Everyone, AT THIS TIME (else as soon as you read this), IN PREP FOR THIS EVENT (SCaLE TOMORROW 8am to Sun 5:30pm, for whatever parts u'll be attending), now work though THE MOSTLY-PREP TODO LIST http://1.JotHere.com/3999#MEG92...
the order it gives, including once you've confirmed your booth volunteer shift with me (as several already have: thanks!) and then registered (ideally for free due to your shift), then followup with the CARPOOL & HOTEL SHARING OFFERS there plus hotel options, and MAKE MORE OFFERS (all by reply post there else here), plus pack up and BRING EVERYTHING ON THE TODO LIST (which of course includes ur laptop!). Please let me & all know how it's going by reply posting there else here (including thanks to many who already have -indeed everyone!), and look forward to seeing ya all at this awesome event!

I hv some semi-sad but not so surprising news. What r those cmts here by"A former member"? Well @~9:30pm,I saw unexpectedly &w/o any warning, William http://meetup.com/members/27706...
quit OCAndroid
*&4no reason he's told me(incl if he did ans Meetup's"Why are you leaving?",I cant tell per a recent recurring Meetup bug turning those notices off).
*Unless true emerg,quitting or doing anything notably negative w/o expectation&explanation violates the"due process"rule http://1.JotHere.com/3975#MHGM3...
long posted 4our grp&other Meetup grps, incl all which Im a ldr.
*But more neg from him comes of little surprise;&he_wasn't_a mbr, just a cross-promoter(attended0);&u'
ve seen plenty neg already in his posts here. &I wdnt AT ALL tolerate it,but again he had invited us&got us committed2 co-leading w/him -then starts2undermine. But fortunately this time I may hv started,2,spotting what he does:so quietly built our own connections2 SCaLE, then just told him what I saw -&he up&quits! Go figure.
February 23
DestinyArchitect, what is the status of your group's involvement in SCALE with the booth? Need to know as will be getting banner printed in a week. Sent you an email but have not heard back. We need to communicate on this directly.
January 30
Registering for http://1.JotHere.com
(at http://1.JotHere.com/2741#M1PJM...
)
*--something quite useful for most every OCAndroid meetup - here we're using especially to find others to carpool & roomeshare with http://1.JotHere.com/3999#MIHZB...
plus to comment on that main listing.
**I encourage all OCAndroid mbrs2do this. Some of us (including all OCAndroid leaders, as Bill&Lucy&me here), long have accounts each commented there and authored pages there --the right-side bar shows all the authors there and their bios.
February 22
I'll be there all three days, so I can man the booth whenever. Saturday morning is probably best since I can help set up.
February 18
Just want to comment as I see these things coming through. Offering free passes so freely yet we have a limited amount. OCAndroid gets 6. DestinyArchitect never communicated with me to get the code so don't know what he is giving out. There is no booth or exhibit on Friday. There are only events happening Friday. Pass available for volunteers is a full conference pass (you can attend all 3 days if you so wish). Booth is pretty well manned for Saturday but free to stop by. As well, OCPHP, LAPHP, and LampSIG is having a PHP BOF Sat night @ 7 in Carmel Ballroom if anyone is interested in attending that.
February 19
Well the "nada" worked as William saw that and, after a few more grumblings from him+reminder email to him, at 1:09pm today (1.5 days b4 the conf) he finally coughed up our the exhibitor discount codes (which SCaLE emailed him back in Jan), though he wd send absolutely nothing else, not even instructions on how to use them (&unfortunately the procedure SCaLE is having each booth worker do to get the discount is still a bit tricky) nor any of my now 3 requests for the Exhibitor info SCaLE sent him, just ignoring all my requests for this; but,ya know, that's William. So I rushed & wrote up instructions on to securely get ur code ®4free http://1.JotHere.com/3999#MIE66...
(which actually extend and improve on SCaLE's instructions which I later unearthed&also included there), and now just granted u(ur std email address) access; so give it a shot ®ister now and report back(by posting there else here) on how it goes -u're the 1st to try this full booth worker reg system I've spun together.
February 20
Anyone know if OC Android is in or out for SCALE booth??? Have not heard from DestinyArchitect about this. NEED a response to organize this thing.
February 6
An update on this is that the SCALE booth is going forward as it will be a combined booth for OC Drupal, OCPHP, and OC Android. The purpose of such a booth is to showcase the OC area and the specific various technology being represented to attendees.
More details are will be posted here or from DestinyArchitect (as communication means are warranted) as they are found out.
We will have a very limited # of tickets for volunteers to share amongst the (3) groups so we will have to wait to see how this is arranged as we don't know how many we will get yet.
The (3) groups will share the booth Saturday with OC Android having free reign over the booth on Sunday. I (William Estrada of OCPHP) will be fully organizing the booth, at least for Saturday, in terms of swag for table, amenities for the booth, and volunteers.
Just wanted to make note of this to the group and on this message board. I did read above but really, where can I get the decoder ring to read this stuff :)
January 17
Enjoyed SCALE last year. Didn't think I would understand anything there, but it turned out I attended meetings on vector graphics, photography, and video editing that were very informative.
January 31
*Now adding leader Bill http://meetup.com/OCAndroid/mem...
as an Event Host on this since
**at the end of (yesterday's Main Meetup http://meetu.ps/qGHTR
) he said he'd go with me for the full thing (& we'd rent a hotel room together) and
**this then gives us a leader (besides me) from OCAndroid.
*I'll still handle getting up the web listings but he could be helpful in say getting our booth staffed which I'll be announcing once the listings are up.
December 28
"3:46 PM (49 minutes ago)", to me Destiny, event Host William http://meetup.com/OCAndroid/mem...
emailed (sd be posted per http://1.JotHere.com/ap0
, esp given OCAndroid has multiple leaders to coordinate, including on every event :-) this useful & timely point quote(
Just noticed on OC Android this event http://www.meetup.com/OCAndroid...
.
OCPHP does not have a booth yet, haven't even talked about planning, or decided on getting on. Am I missing a discussion about the day? Seems to be an announcement from last year as this year is end of Feb; not Jan.
Hope all is well.)
