OC Hackerz Meetup

  • Feb 6, 2014 · 7:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

In this months meetup,

1. I will be doing a quick recap of CES,

2. Startup pitches and a demo of Dave Gullos new smartphone app

"Forgot or Not" is part game and part memory program for your LinkedIn contacts.  It helps you reflect on who you have met lately, and provides a foundation for remembering their name in the future.

3. In preparation for our hackathon, we will be doing a hands on EarthMake.com beginners workshop in the second half for everyone to get their feet wet...Approx 2 hour class.

Additional Info...

App 1 :Have you ever been to a meetup or a startup event and met lots of great people in one night? You end up having plenty of meaningful conversations and collect a dozen or two business cards along the way. At some point later you LinkedIn with many of them. Then you see these same people at a future event and you completely draw blanks on their name!  Epic Fail!

"Forgot or Not" is part game and part memory program for your LinkedIn contacts.  It helps you reflect on who you have met lately, and provides a foundation for remembering their name in the future.

Here’s how it works. In training mode, you move through flashcards of your most recent connections.  In mini-game mode you test your abilities and when you achieve enough familiarity with your contacts, you "Level up" and unlock more connections from the past.  For those who "blindly connect" there is a "Forget" button which removes the contact from training and game-play. For important contacts there's a "Flag" button which emails you a pre-composed reminder to follow up.

Early testers have demonstrated a marked ability to remember names better. The app is in beta and will hit the Play and App stores in Q1 of 2014.  Contact Dave Gullo for an invite to TestFlight it.

Please bring your computer or laptop to participate in the EarthMake.com workshop.

I will be asking for a $10 donation towards logistics and will put some towards providing food.

We will have to limit 30 due to the space we have available. To be fair RSVP will be on first come first serve basis. Please keep your RSVP current so others that maybe on the waiting list can still make it. Thanks

Anil
