There’s a common assumption that the Elance platform for freelancers was built to hire talent on an adhoc basis for projects based around web and mobile software applications.
However, As we explore the many different categories Elance is actually being used for, we’ve discovered that some of the more trending categories are Customer Support, Social Media Optimization and Mobile Advertising.
Today I feel we have reached a NEW milestone as we explore the journey of 2 brothers from local technology group OCHackerz that leveraged Elance resources and used their virtual workforce, from around the world to build a physical product, locally.
SnapJet is an open source, portable Polaroid printer for your smartphone. It prints ultra high resolution images in seconds, and without any custom apps. It will be launching a kickstarter in the fall. www.SnapJet.com
I'm an engineer and designer, but most of all a maker. My background is in material science—a multidisciplinary field that incorporates chemistry, physics and mechanical engineering. You can usually find me around the lab prototyping electronics, machining, or drafting CAD models.
I worked in the financial industry for nine years before leaving to make SnapJet a reality. My specialty is software development and machine learning, but I've always loved tinkering on hardware and starting business ventures.

Apologies in advance as we will have to cap this group at 50 due to the space we have available. To be fair RSVP will be on first come first serve basis. Please keep your RSVP current so others that maybe on the waiting list can still make it. Thanks
