I hope to gain insight on the IT world, learn more programming skills (I took 2 classes in Java for my AS degree), meet the people in my area that are innovating the industry, and learn about the most current and future trends.
A willingness to listen and learn, a fresh perspective, and a desire to improve my knowledge and skills via hands on practice and cooperation with the experts in the field.
My biggest strength is my organizational ability. I learn quickly, and I'm always looking for ways to integrate what I've learned into a deeper understanding of the overall picture. Once I'm comfortable with it, I start playing around trying out new ideas to increase my understanding and improve the system, whatever system it is. For IT, I'm equally comfortable working with hardware or software, but I don't have the knowledge or experience to do any serious programming yet.

I'm a 20 year Navy veteran who was first exposed to IT and networking when I worked for the IT dept. at Fleet Training Command, San Diego. I have since earned an AS in computer and electrical engineering and will shortly be taking the test for CCNA.
I don't know yet, this was my first experience with them, and I'm still a little unsure if everybody there was part of OC Hackerz or even if OC Hackerz was in charge of the meeting overall. I look forward to future meetings, though.
