Attn OCHackerz,

This weekend we'll be hacking away at the awesome NDOCH event - National Day of Civic Hacking, if your interested in joining our team and competing feel free to shoot me an email at [address removed], let's represent OC! details below:

Civic Hack Day with $15,000 in Prizes

Saturday, June 1, 2013

10:00 AM to 4:00 AM

After recently releasing its first mobile app, MyLA311, the City of Los Angeles is supporting the National Day of Civic Hacking at the technologically-supercharged Boyle Heights Youth Technology Center.

With the support of the Foundation, Facebook, Google, Microsoft, Future Salon, ESRI, Scopely, Amazon, AT&T and others, now is the time to play your part in using your insight, talent and passion to build a better LA.

Over $15,000 in 12 prizes over 8 categories will be distributed.

Bringing together students, citizens, entrepreneurs, and  software developers to collaboratively create, build, and invent new solutions using publicly-released data, code and technology to solve challenges relevant to Boyle Heights, our neighborhoods, and the City of Los Angeles.

For techies and fuzzies, whether you have an idea or don't have an idea, this hackathon will be fun and a great networking opportunity with likely over 200 in attendance.

Developers will have the chance to generate solutions for community problems in Boyle Heights and all of LA while inspiring local high school students about mobile app development.

To make this event even more interesting, there will be a Maker Faire taking place adjacent to the Hackathon, where attendees will have the chance to play with  innovative new technology while learning about the diversity and cultural richness of the Boyle Heights community. Organizations including LA Makerspace and Two Bit Circus will demonstrate how fun technology can be by showcasing 3D printers and other awesome exhibits.
