I am a new Atlanta transplant from northern Virginia by way of a brief 4 years in south Florida. I am living in Lawrenceville, and look forward to opportunities to make new friends with people who share my love for the outdoors.
I am most interested in hiking, canoeing, backpacking, and camping.
I love the Appalachian Mountains, and my favorite place is a private lot near Sperryville, Virginia that hugs the Shenandoah National Park where my mother and I hosted several "Wild Women Campouts" to introduce more women to the joys of primitive camping.
Not too adventurous by some standards, but quite so for me. A friend and I set out to backpack the 181.5 mile C&O canal in 10 days. After 6 days and 60 miles, we headed home ... popped blisters, plantar fasciitis, and temperatures about 20 degrees lower than expected along with two days of torrential thunderstorms depleted our internal resources!
Anywhere in the woods ... from a grove in the backyard, a shady spot in the park, to a secret space deep in the forest ... escaping is a frame of mind to me.
