App Showcase - Demos and Discussion

iOS Developer Meetup hosts our monthly App Showcase where members get to demo their apps.

Some of the most fun we've had as a group has been sharing our apps with each other. Previous events have seen a wide variety of app demos.

If you want to get on the list to demo your app at a future event, please contact me (David Overfield).

6:30pm - Food and Networking

7pm - App Demos

8:30pm - Networking

Food and drinks are provided as well as seating for everyone to see the demos on the 70" big screen.

***** A/C Will Be On *****

Great news - especially for those in the front of the room.  Linda from Tri-Net is sponsoring our group and will cover the cost of A/C for the event.  No more sweating up a storm like previous meetings.  Thanks Linda!

***** PREPAY *****

Please prepay with Square so check in is quicker and we have an accurate count for food.

Square Payment Link

The $10 event fee covers: food, drinks, and facility.

***** App Demos *****

There are 5 app demos scheduled at this time.

***** Kickstarter Panel Discussion *****

We will continue the discussion with Usman Rashid who raised over $100,000 using Kickstarter to fund his camera hardware/app product.

***** Dinner *****

Food, drinks, and dessert will be provided like always.

Dinner will be from PF Chang's this month. There will be vegetarian and gluten free options.

***** Raffle *****

There will be a raffle this month for iTunes gift cards.  Just drop your business card in the collection bin.

***** Location *****

ROC Newport Airport - 5th Floor of Wells Fargo building

Once again ROC is hosting the event for us. Thanks Pat, Linda, and Lou!

***** Free Parking *****

Free parking after 6pm. Just enter the lot and park anywhere.

***** Elevator Locks at 7pm *****

The building elevator locks at 7pm. If you arrive after 7pm, you'll need to unlock it.

To gain access to the building after 7pm, press the 'start' button. The numbers will scramble. Locate '5' and press it five times. Then press the 'end' button which is the button in the lower right hand corner of the key pad. Then press the '5' button like you normally would to operate the elevator.

The Person Finance app would benefit from reversing the mechanics for posting a transaction. Instead of dragging a big + sign onto a small icon, do the opposite. Drag a small icon onto the big minus or plus sign. Touch-wise and Visually, it is much easier to make a small object land on a bigger object. One only needs to get into the perimeter of the bigger object.

Excellent suggestion. This totally makes sense.

The advantage of the current approach is that the categories don't appear until the the user is ready to interact with them. Having them showing all the time I think would be visually overwhelming. You might be able to do something like the dock effect in OS X. As the +/- moves closer to the category it gets larger to make pairing easier.

Attendance at the OC fair was slightly down last year so let's assume this year will be slightly up. With the unconfirmed but probably effective parking lot sign marketing, let's assume a better conversion from last year. That puts my guess at 33,123 but I hope that it is actually closer to Boris's figure. :)

Hi David, Sightstream is finally on the app store! We would like to present at this upcoming meet up... Is there still room on the list?

We are booked up right now but someone may cancel at the last minute so you may want to attend anyway. Worse case there is space in August for sure.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
