Hello Joseph,

Thanks for your reply :)

Whatever you may able to assist with, that would be great. I'm not going to start anything unless I have some interested people.

Ubuntu on an old machines is a bad idea unless you are using 10.04 with the old classic GNOME. Lubuntu is the best and the prefect solution in this case.

Being a member of Lubuntu and an active user did give me a good experience and certain skills. Also, I learned how great Lubuntu can be on old machines. Nowadays, Lubuntu is being used on new machines before old ones. It is gaining lost of popularity.

Hi Ali
Thanks for the  mail
I would like to contribute, but not sure in which area should I.
What about this, I do free LINX  installation and training for office boys, who has old PC and laptop, why not I try out with them.
I was previously trying out Mint Xfce, but I faced post installation issues, and lated I switched backed in giving  Ubuntu.
Since this users are end users, the lose confidence on us if the some issues happen

Thanks
Joseph John

Subject: [EmiratesLoCo] DubaiOS

Dear all,

It's been ages I haven't shown up but I have had very tough times. The last month, in one week, I lost two dear and close persons to me and it was a huge loss.
I'm trying to get myself together and start doing something for my team and the whole community and here I'm, trying to do something.

I have given it some thoughts and decided to start a project called DubaiOS.
It's a Linux OS based on Lubuntu. Why Lubuntu? because I have more experience in Lubuntu than anything else beside I will use Ubuntu Repository eventually which is good start.

I'm building my team then start building the system but first thing first, I will do more marketing and advertising stuff to see if this is all a good or bad idea.
Not sure how many people over there in Dubai who really know about Linux?

Because DubaiOS is going to be based on Lubuntu, that means the range of machines it will work on is great. From 10 years old to a brand new one, DubaiOS should work.

I'd like to present this here and if you have any question, I will be glad to answer. And I hope some of you could join my team to build this system :)

Thank you!
