ONA Philly: three upcoming news innovation events you should attend

Hello dear Online News Association Philadelphia Meetup members!

After partnering with NBC 10 on a great showcase of its web strategies in January, we've been quiet the last few weeks. But, as you all know, that doesn't mean there aren't great conversations happening around the future of news.

In place of our next couple meetups, we're going to partner in spreading awareness about three particularly great events that are coming up and are relevant to you.

  • A Q&A with MinnPost CEO Joel Kramer (Tues. Feb. 28 3pm @ Temple University) -- Organized by the Center for Public Interest Journalism, they will be talking about a robust statewide news site with varied revenue and, yes, some profit to boot.
  • Data and demos from Hacks/Hackers (Wed. 2/29 6:30pm @ Inquirer building) -- Presentations on data, technology and journalism!
  • Fourth Annual BarCamp NewsInnovation (Sat. 4/28 9am @ Temple University) -- The annual national unconference on news and innovation, featuring attendees from throughout the East Coast, presented by CPIJ and alongside an Open Gov Hackathon presented by Tropo. [Full Disclosure: I am a co-organizer of this event.]

These events fit the spirit of ONA. Expect another great, ONA Philly-specific meetup soon after. Thanks all and, as always, spread the word! (You can 'like' us on Facebook here.)
