Starry Nights in Open Space!

You made it through the holidays and all the relatives are gone. Wouldn't you love to take advantage of the peace and quiet to come gaze at the stars? You can see the milky way from here and we have a whole bunch of super friendly docents from the San Jose Astronomical Association who would love nothing more than to share a peek through their telescope with you. Come see nebulae and binary stars and galaxies galore! And dress warm because it's chilly.  This is a great way to unwind after the stress of the work week. You won't be disappointed. Unless it clouds over or rains in which case we can't see anything and the evening will be canceled. But we do this every month so you won't have to wait long!

This is a great educational experience for the kids, too. So feel free to bring them along.

It was a great event. Met a lot of nice people -- and the telescope folks were very helpful and patiently showed us a lot of things. Had a great time!

Great event tonight, a good turnout from the public and telescopes. Great views of the Supernova, Orion Nebula, Jupiter, Andromeda Galaxy and also VY Canis Majoris (the big dog star) I hope to see everybody next month.

Hey guys, I am a layman in this -- but will we be able to see the supernova that started last week in this star party? I have read that its in M82 galaxy and requires a "A 6-inch telescope at 150-power, or a 10-inch telescope at 250-power" (as per: ) Will we have telescopes with this much power in this party? And also the skills to track the M82 galaxy down :-) I am attending this party in any case -- will be fun if we will be able to see this.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
