Western Pond Turtle Discovery Hike - Full

Western Pond Turtles are endangered and we have an oasis for them in our very own back country of Rancho Canada del Oro. If you'd like to see them , please join us for a 4 mile round trip hike into the back country of Rancho Canada del Oro. Docents will lead you to the beautiful hidden lake where you will learn all about Western Pond turtles and get to see them in the wild.

Please bring water, a hat, sunscreen and a snack. Sorry, no children under 10 for this hike.

Terrific hike! SO much more than turtles (though I'd have gone just for them). Thanks especially to our docents for patiently answering questions and telling us fascinating tidbits about everything around us along the way.

Morgan Hill, just south of Calero County Park (so, almost San Jose)

I posted a note after this event was full, dunno if that officially signed me up once spots opened up, so....this is my official signup. Hopefully not a duplication.

Had to drop out, alas. My daughter has too many other activities on Saturday.

What's the reason children under 10 not allowed? May I bring my 7 month old on baby carrier?

Something came up, so I changed my RSVP to no. Hope someone else can fill my spot.

I took off my +1, so that frees up a space.

I won't be able to go; I broke my arm falling off the Los Gatos Creek Trail. Someone can take my spot.

Hi Michelle, I am still going and can give you a ride Saturday. I'm Christina. I'll be the one wearing a Seahawks hat.

I have to cancell my space. Please open up my spot for someone else to enjoy.

If a spot opens up, would love to come along. Aside from hiking, I'm a turtle enthusiast (I've raised box turtles for about 30 yrs now) AND a photographer. This sounds like a great opportunity to enjoy my 3 favorite pasttimes at once!

Hi everyone. I need a ride one way from Rancho Canada back to South San Jose after the turtle hike. Can anyone help me out? Thanks, Michelle[masked],

Hi Everyone. Is there someone I could grab a ride from for the turtle walk? I'll be in San Jose. I'd REALLY love to go on this! Thanks.

What is the pace for this hike? I'm thinking of coming with my 10 year old. She's successfully gone on 3-mile hikes with another Meetup group, but they have some slower hikers and will pause for slower hikers to catch up.

It should be fine with her so long as she keep up until the part where they get off the road. (For a while there is a road we have to walk on that is only allowed with docents because it is private. It's flat. So long as no one lags too far behind on that first part, it's fine.)
