First Friday Friends Walk

What better way to end the week than with a stress reducing walk with friends? Ulistac Natural Area is amazingly beautiful and full of wonderful birds and butterflies and beautiful plants to enjoy. Take a gentle late afternoon walk with a docent who can tell you about the plants and animals if you like. This walk will happen every Friday at 4 pm until November. Rain cancels.

Is fishing legal on the Guadalupe River?
Yes. The season opens the last Saturday in April and closes in November. Everyone 16 years of age and over must have a valid California Sport Fishing License displayed above the waist (and in possession of photo ID). ONLY barbless hooks and artificial lures are allowed. NO TAKE on Salmon and Steelhead. Interested persons can be referred to the California Department of Fish and Game web page for more information on take and size limits for other species. The Health Department recommends that people not eat the fish caught in the river due to mercury residue from the old mines up stream.
This is for the young man with First Friends and his question yesterday on our native steelhead (trout).
