This is the perfect place for a day of paddling and BBQ fun with friends! The majestic Hudson River is the venue for this trip as we explore the coastline near West Point with awesome views of Storm King Mountain, Breakneck Ridge and Bannerman's Castle. There is no better place to go paddling for the day than this particular area of the Hudson River. This is a must do trip for any kayaking enthusiast or anyone wanting to give it a try as no experience is necessary. Then kick-back, relax and enjoy a sandbar BBQ.

Before starting our trip we will go over basic safety guidelines and learn correct paddling techniques. Just like riding a bike, you will get the hang of it before you know it and we’ll hit the open waters. Along the way we will be treated to constant views of the massive Breakneck Ridge and Storm King Mountain to the south.
We will paddle around the infamous Bannerman's Castle, long since abandoned but steep in lore and mystery, and hear a bit about the history of the island and the castle itself. We then circle the island and head across the river towards Plum Point to our own private sandbar for a BBQ. Plum Point affords great landscape scenery, rugged mountain views, and wildlife spotting (eagles?) in the nearby creeks.
Now, the party is just starting! The sandbar, your refuge on the river, hosts the BBQ which is complete with boiled shrimp, marinated chicken skewers, hamburgers, hot dogs, vegetable pasta salad, corn on the cob, cold soda and water. Yummy! Guides will set up everything in advance so when our group arrives the grills are going, food is cooking and the tunes are playing. We will also have kites, frisbees, horseshoes, jarts, etc to keep us busy. You'll love it!
Then we'll pack up and paddle a short distance back to where we started - lots of great kayaking, scenery and food! Not a bad way to spend the day!
