Kayaking the Castle & Wine in the Hudson River near West Point

This is the perfect place for a day of paddling. The majestic Hudson River is the venue for this trip as we explore the coastline near West Point with awesome views of Storm King Mountain and Breakneck Ridge. This trip is perfect for beginners and experienced paddlers alike. Includes continental breakfast and picnic lunch.

Please note that you must register and book this trip on the Outdoor Connections website to reserve your spot. See link below ....

http://www.outdoorconnectionsnyc.com/guided-adventure-trips/hudson-river-kayaking-trip.php

Before starting our trip we will go over basic safety guidelines and learn correct paddling techniques. Just like riding a bike, you will get the hang of it before you know it and we’ll hit the open waters. Some of the areas that we may explore are Moodna Creek along the east shoreline and Plum Point Park with it's sandy shoreline beaches.  We will also paddle around the infamous Bannerman's Castle - long since abandoned but steep in lore and mystery.  We may also head south toward Little Stony Point with more scenic and sandy beaches or into a hidden cove past the trestle bridge.  Along the way we will be treated to constant views of the massive Breakneck Ridge and Storm King Mountain to the south.

The placid and serene waters of this area affords great landscape scenery, rugged mountain views, and wildlife spotting in the nearby creeks. We will make our way back to the kayak put-in and break out our picnic lunch and relax at our cozy riverside park and gaze out over the mighty Hudson River and the gorgeous mountain scenery beyond.  Then we'll pack up and head for home but not before a stop at a fun and laid back local vineyard on the Shawangunk Wine Trail to sample some the best local wines in the Hudson Valley.

All trip details and final trip itinerary will be e-mailed to all registered guests the week of the trip date.

nice trip. good group, good equipment and terrific weather. However, fact checking on Bannerman Castle revealed that our guide did not have correct facts regarding many points that he quoted.

Hi Theresa - If you paid then your spot is secure. Your spot is only secure if you pay in advance as we reserve spots with the outfitter in advance. We can't do day of payments. As you know Meetup is notorious for folks saying RSVP "Yes" and then never showing up..Hence we require that you pay in advance... There is always next time - we have this trip again in July and August..Thx, Jim

Jim, Thanks for the response… Is it ok that I'm a total beginner, that I've never done this activity before? don't want to slow the group down or get left…

    Thanks,
