Stargazing at the Roughs

Bring a chair for some stargazing! McKinney Roughs will also have someone there with a telescope. You can park in the McKinney Roughs lot and look for the solar lighted trail through the woods. McKinney Roughs is at 1884 SH 71 West, Cedar Creek, TX 78612. (If you were coming from the airport, it is about 13 miles east and the entrance will be on the left. Please note it is at McKinney Roughs LCRA park, not the State Park.) MEET AT THE VISITORS CENTER AT 9:15 Here is the description from the McKinney Roughs website: Stargazing at the Roughs 9:30-11 pm FREE, all ages McKinney Roughs Nature Park Join other night-sky revelers for a chance to marvel at the beauty of the planets and be awed by our Earth's place in the galaxy. The wonders of the universe will come to life when viewed through our Dobsonian telescopes. Our astronomer will tell stories about the constellations and point out other wonders as they appear. Bring lawn chairs and blankets for comfort. Fun for the whole family! Program will be canceled in the event of inclement weather. Call [masked] before 5 pm to confirm or call our 24-hour community program hotline at[masked], Ext. 7530. Registration is not required.     Let's meet at 9:15pm near the visitors center (close to the parking lot) so it will be easier to find each other. The event starts at 9:30pm and it is at the end of a short walk down a dimly lit trail that goes out to the star gazing field. The visitor center by the parking lot is lit & restrooms/pay phones are nearby. We can meet under the lights and walk out there together. I will have a white shirt with a blue star on it so you can find me.
