Training Hike-Cedar Breaks Park

This is one of those long hikes in which participants need to be in great condition. We are going to hike 6 miles and then another 6 miles back.

Bring water, snacks and sun block. No pets for this trail sorry. We are gonna start early hoping to avoid as much sun as possible. The trails here are rocky, I highly recommend hiking shoes for this event.

Please arrive early so that we can start hiking no later then 7:30 am. From I-35, take Farm to Market Road 2338 west for 3.5 miles to D.B. Wood Road. Turn left and continue for 2.5 miles. Turn right onto Cedar Breaks Road and follow signs to the park. Follow the sign to San Gabriel Trail/Cedar Breaks Trail head.

As usual have my number with you in case you need to txt me or to find us. Friends are welcome :)

Also, if you are training for backpacking I encourage you to bring your pack fully loaded.

Good outing. It was nice to get in 12 miles with a full pack. That will really help when it comes time for the Pecos Wilderness in August.

I forgot about the event for my dogs later that morning - I signed up for it weeks ago. Wouldnt have time to go back to my house to get them to their event. Sorry I will have to catch up with you another time.

My dog is just a mutt, the all American breed, saves from pound. She is also an outside dog, going to be my backpacking partner .

Lisa is it OK to bring a dog. Mine loves to go on hikes with me. She's a friendly German Shepherd 20 months old

It is very rocky and you do have to watch your footing. I have taken my dog ,b but she was limping by the time we were done and that was done in the winter so no heat factor.

Thanks Doug - what breed of dog do you have? My dog is used to the heat, she lives outside and we go on the rocks most days at the lake for a couple of hours a day. But half the distance of this hike as she swims and plays. So I realize now best to leave her at home.
