Learn to make Kimchi

Hello!

This class was originally scheduled for the 30th of August but has just been changed to September 13th due to a change in the teacher's schedule. Hopefully this doesn't affect anyone's ability to attend!

Annie will be doing a kimchi demo. Class will be hands on and you will leave with a small batch of kimchi-in-progress.

This occasion is also a vegan potluck lunch, so please bring along some vegan goodies to share.

For class you will need a medium to large glass jar. Please also bring one or two items from the following list of veggies:

• wombok (Chinese cabbage)

• lo bak (daikon radish, the large long white radish)

• ginger

• tart apple

• hot peppers if you like spice

• carrot

• scallion

• onion

• garlic

If everyone brings one or two things from this list we'll have plenty to share to make a large batch of kimchi together. If you see an inspiring fruit or vegetable at the market and want to add it to your own jar of kimchi, feel free to bring it along!

Due to space restrictions we can only host 8 people at once.

Awesome kimchi lesson on Saturday, thanks Annie! I have a couple of questions! 1) My kimchi doesn't have much liquid in it at all, should it? 2) My friend married a Korean and now has kimchi/dairy fridge issues which she has helpfully illustrated in her blog: http://www.mykoreanhusband.com/... Is this something we need to be concerned about?!

The blog was funny! I guess humble amount of garlic will be better. I found good recipe of meal with Kimch which is Kimch fried rice.

You can also put migoren(Indonesian noodle) or Natto( Japanese smelly sticky fermented beans) in Kimch fried rice

It was lovely afternoon. Thank you for Annie for preparing many things and I always enjoy learning from you. Traditional Kimch is smelly. But the one we tried this afternoon wasn't smelly. I knew now that traditional one was mixed a lot of lot of garlic in it. Thank you for everyone for making such a yammy foods. Thank you for Kristina and Paul for being nice and warm host always. I feel so comfy your place ;)

Hi everyone! I have a schedule conflict (again, just like with sauerkraut class, sorry!!). I've changed the date to Saturday Sept 13th. Same time of day, same location. Also posted more info about what to bring. Please comment here or email/text me with questions if you have my info from last class.

Btw, the salad recipe I learned from Annie and Linda was very popular whenever I bring to the party. Hopefully I can learn more:)
