The Spirit of Munich: Oktoberfest by the Bay

  • September 20, 2013 · 6:00 PM

This is the perfect event for OHH members. Come out and join me for an evening of celebrating, food and great beer.

Designed in the true spirit of the famed Munich Oktoberfest, the San Francisco version is the largest event on the West Coast, and features an outstanding 27 piece Polka Band, traditional German dance groups, Alpine horns and special exhibits. Produced by the German –American society of Northern California, attendees are welcomed into a festive environment, complete with huge banners, German foods, non-stop entertainment, exhibits and of course – BEER!

The producers of Oktoberfest by the Bay are welcoming us back again this year with a great dinner & entertainment special.

For 2013, OHH members can attend Oktoberfest and enjoy a fantastic package including:

Discounted Event Pass (just download and bring it with you)

Reserved seating, (look for the OHH table w/balloons)

A collector beer stein

A coupon for a liter of beer of your choice, (over 33 ounces)

A coupon for a complete German dinner served that evening

Package valued at $75.00, but OHH members pay just $40.

Tickets are emailed via Eventbright and must be printed and brought with you to the event. You can also use your smartphone and show your ticket at the entrance.

RSVP: Please provide accurate numbers for everyone in your party when you RSVP. This will give me an the information I need to provide reserve seating for everyone in your group.

Ordering: You can order your Eventbright tickets directly here;

(If you have trouble securing your Eventbright order, refresh your page, or change your brower. If you still cannot get in, please email me at [masked])

Ticketing: Your ticket(s) will be emailed to you with a link for downloading and printing. You must have a printed ticket in hand when you arrive at the festival hall.

Additional beer and food can be purchased using tokens, (which are exchanged with dollars.)

Getting to the event: This is a BART or CalTrain event. LEAVE YOUR CAR AT HOME. BART to the Embarcadero or Montgomery stations then transfer to the Metro N or L line towards AT&T Park. When you depart the Metro - look towards the bay and the Oktoberfest signs. Take Caltrain to AT&T Park, then walk a couple of blocks to Pier 48 next to Barry Bonds Jr. Giants baseball park. More transportation information;

This is a great way to celebrate Oktoberfest! I will post more information on where our table is located in the festival hall a few weeks before the event.

Get in the spirit of Oktoberfest and dress up. You can purchase handmade Lederhosen or a Dirndl inexpensively here;

or do a search on eBay and find stuff.

    Cash for Tokens. This event is token driven, meaning you must exchange money for tokens. There are machines at the entrance of the hall and a booth on either side of the seating areas where you can get tokens. Also - keep your stein with you at all times. If you want more beer - they will fill it for a few tokens - as its hard to tell how much to pour. In some cases, you might get a complete liter for a few bucks - where another might pay as much as $10.00

    By chance does anyone know if there is a "will call"?
    I have someone meeting me and I'm in possession of their ticket and won't see them til the day of event. Thx!!
    Can't wait, even tho I don't drink beer :-P

      The event is not set-up for will-call - as tickets are pre-ordered and then downloaded to bring to the event. Best I can suggest is to have your friend text you when she arrives. You can meet her at the entrance and give her the ticket.

    The Final Word on Attending Oktoberfest by the Bay

    1. Make sure to print out and bring your ticket with you. You can also store the data on your smartphone, (but a ticket is the quickest way to get in.)

    2. Enter through the VIP door. If you enter through the regular General Admission door, you will confuse the staff.

    3. Grab your stein and food and beer tickets (the stein is yours to keep.)

    4. Look for the Beer Mug balloons. That is the reserve area.

    5. Your beer ticket can be redeemed at any beer station for (33 oz. pour.)

    6. Your meal ticket is good for any choice of three entrees.

    7. I will be wearing Lederhosen. If you have questions – let me know.

    See you there!

    Please note: If you are a member of Bay Area Beer Socials, and have signed up on that MeetUp page - please remove yourself from the OHH list. I need to have an accurate account for seating.
