Spring cycling may seem like a long ways away but really its not. The fitness level and conditioning you acquire and develop over the summer is quickly lost if you do not continue to find creative ways to stay on the bike and keep those legs and lungs road ready. As we enter the winter months it becomes more and more difficult to get out there. Days are shorter, colder and wetter. What’s the answer? Indoor spinning. Spinning bikes are unique in that they emulate the feel of a road bike. Add in inspiring music, the companionship of your riding buddies and an inviting environment and you have all you need to make sure you maintain and build on the conditioning you have earned as well as prepare for spring riding without struggling as you re-acquaint yourself with the bike and physical demands it requires.
Join us for our Thursday night Spin A 45 minute -1 hour ride where you will be challenged both mentally and physically, burning more calories than any other form of a cardio workout. A colourful trip through perfect circles of motion, as muscles tone and the heart pumps to incredible music and instruction. you will climb, sprint and soar, while stilling the mind.
Spinning is For everyone
Spinning is great for people who want a motivating workout that they can control at their own pace.
Spinning is for all levels, anyone can ride a stationary bike, don’t be shy, come out and give it a try. Unlike an outdoor running group, everyone begins and finishes together.
Spinning is your workout
Spinning is your workout. You control everything from your speed and resistance to your intensity level, so it can be as easy or as challenging as you want it to be. Like many things in life, you will get out of it what you put into it.
What to wear
Wear cycling shorts (if you have them) padded cycling shorts will increase your comfort
Cycling shorts will add padding directly to your body that is more effective than a gel seat pad that moves around
Spinning shoes
spinning shoes with cleats (if you have them) (that clip into the bike pedals) can make your workout more effective.
Cycling shoes provide a solid platform for greater support for your foot, and by clipping in you will benefit from being able to properly pull-up as well as push-down on the pedal.
What to bring:
At least one water bottle
A towel for all that sweat.
If you have one, a heart rate monitor is an awesome fitness tool that instructors and students alike typically use to measure exercise intensity during Spinning classes.
