To All,

If you have any questions about our group and how our social events are organized, please visit our "About" page at www.aynrand.meetup.com/71/about.

NEWS FLASH:

We are in the initial planning stages of organizing to have a prominent Objectivist speaker come to Dallas! All details still to be determined. With sufficient response we can continue by bringing in a live speaker event every few months -- once a year is not enough!

NO WHINING!

We are trying to build an "Objectivist Society," in the broadest sense of the word "society." To do this of course we need Objectivists. But we also think we need people interested in learning more about Objectivism, friends, and families. An Objectivist society should not be just for philosophers -- it's for people.

To start, we are experimenting by sponsoring frequent social events. With social interactions centered on an interest in Objectivism, we hope we can stimulate ourselves to learn more, to reason better, and to take more control of our own lives. We hope that broad social interactions and study groups will each provide the fuel of interest to the fire of the other.

If you consider yourself to already be an Objectivist, please join us in trying to build an Objectivist context for our lives. If you lament that there are not enough other Objectivists here for you -- no whining! It's because you have not been participating! If you are not investing your time in building an Objectivist society, who will? Surely you don't expect someone else to do it for you?

If you are newly interested in Objectivism, the philosophy and morality of reason, please start by reading at least one of Ayn Rand's novels and please feel free to join us to explore the philosophy further. If you lament that there are not enough knowledgeable Objectivists here to discuss ideas with -- no whining for you, either! Objectivism is not always easy. We can't spoon feed it to you -- that was Ayn Rand's job. Only you can choose to read Ayn Rand's novels and then her non-fiction to learn more. Only you can choose whether or not to take control of your own mind.

Let's stop the irrationality. Let's stop waiting for someone else to build an Objectivist society for us.

Please RSVP and, if possible, attend our social events. It is the start for our new society, and much more will come of it.

For those who have kids: Remember that when we are expecting to have many children, we normally try to provide at least two babysitters to help supervise and occupy the kids. We have lots of space for them out of the way of the adults. While all of us don't have young children, I think we can all appreciate how valuable this could be for now and the future -- it allows all our children to share in our society and it provides opportunities for them to have social acceptance under an Objectivist roof. At the same time, we try to provide an environment that allows all the adults and parents to enjoy the company of other adult society without too much distraction.

For those who do not have kids: Same as for those who do.

If you are interested in promoting an Objectivist society, perhaps you should lead by making an early RSVP? If you haven't already done so, please take a moment to make an RSVP to our next event.

We think it is in our mutual best interest to find each other and build a society based on reality and reason. Do we really have anything more important to do? Will anything else matter if we fail?

So please consider making an early RSVP to each of our events. It is the only annoying thing we ever ask of you. And please consider the importance of building an Objectivist society, starting right now.

I think Todd would kick me out if I turned this thread into a word association game.

Anyway, see you all tomorrow.
