North Texas Objectivist Society (NTOS) Message Board › Give me socialism and death!?

Give me socialism and death!?

In our country now drowning in calls for socialism and faith, glorifications of self-sacrifice and life-after-death, erosions of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, taxes for socialist health care and faith-based initiatives, and wars on poverty, drugs, and terror, what are we doing to promote reason and freedom in our lives?

What happened to: "Give me liberty or give me death!" Has it become: "Give me socialism and death?"

What can people who are interested in Ayn Rand's philosophy of reality and reason do to help integrate these ideas into our lives and help spread them?

Is it hopeless? Is there nothing to be done? I don't think so.

Locally, I think we can help build the North Texas Objectivist Society. The values of our society are based on reality, reason, and rational self-interest.

The purpose of socializing with each other is to integrate these ideas in our own lives and to promote these ideas to those who may be interested in exploring them with us. By spending time together, bit-by-bit we challenge each other to think and live better. We should do this for ourselves and our families. We should lead by example.

Spending social time with people interested in rationality can help spread rationality at all levels of our lives. And spending time with good people is a good part of life, too.

Would you rather live in a world without Objectivist parties? Would you rather live in a world without the other things that NTOS is growing to offer, such as Objectivist speakers?

You can! All you have to do is something else with your time. Be passive. Be quiet. Do not make the effort to forge relationships with others interested in reality and reason. Let your world be built by those calling for faith and force.

When do you expect to have time for building the world you want to live in? Do you really expect the advocates of faith and force to leave you in peace?

The idea that NTOS exists "out there" may be pleasing to you. But I am sure you do not expect others to build the kind of society you want to live in.

I call upon you to consider your priorities for your social time and to participate in NTOS.

Please check out the expanding list of social and other opportunities that the North Texas Objectivist Society is offering at http://aynrand.meetup...]

If you have any comments or suggestions for helping to build NTOS, please let me know!
