Occupy Trenton, New Jersey

On the example of Occupy Wall Street in NYC that is sweeping the nation and the world, we have been maintaining a 24 hour occupation since October 6th in Trenton, across the street from the New Jersey state capital building (the "State House"), to raise awareness of what has become massive corporate control over our government. We are one of the thousands of cities with occupations taking place, giving a voice to the silent 99% majority of people on this planet who are not corporate greed machines.

We have New York City to our East and Philadelphia to our West, but New Jersey has a voice too! Come out, show your support, and give yourself a voice in this growing movement by the people and for the people. We stand in solidarity together, not to accentuate our differences, but to realize our most important similarity, that we are all human beings struggling to get by while corporations and their bosses continue to suck our country dry.

Who are we?

We are individuals protesting social and economic inequality, corporate greed, corruption and influence over our government — particularly from the financial services sector — and lobbyists.

Our slogan, “We are the 99%”, refers to the concentration of power and political influence caused by the difference in wealth income growth between the wealthiest 1% and the rest of the population.

We are not liberal, Marxists, socialists, conservative, libertarian or part of any mainstream political group.

We are NON-PARTISAN people from all walks of life and political persuasions who are willing to set aside our differences to tackle this one overriding truth — Our democracy is being sold to the highest bidder no matter the political affiliation.

We are the 99%

Who are you?

You are fed up with the corruption and the self-serving mentality of our elected officials.

You are sick of banks, oil companies and other corporations getting tax breaks and bailouts at your expense.

You are angry that people are losing their jobs and Washington is doing nothing.

You hate that there is total gridlock in Washington and nothing seems to move forward.

You wish there was a way to hold those who ruined our economy responsible.

You hope in futility, politician after politician, that maybe “next time” we will have real leaders with real ideas.

You wonder why those elected to represent us end up working as lobbyists with 6 figure salaries in the same industries they were overseeing while in office.

You are disturbed the Supreme Court has ruled that money is equivalent to free speech and that corporations are people.

You worry that government bureaucrats and the financial elite are too far out of touch with reality.

You are not crazy. You are not alone.

YOU ARE THE 99%

The 99% will no longer suffer in silence.

We are all hurting. The only way to end the pain is to shine light on the darkness.
