** Please note this is a cross-posting from Richmond District Hangout:
Alas it's almost time to say goodbye to summer. Sigh...But let's not get weepy about it. Dry your tears and use this as a reason to party! So let's give summer one last hoorah before fall starts (and don't give a second thought I didn't go to Bora Bora to work on my tan). You may be thinking: what does a wanna-be-Richmond-er know about throwing a bonfire? Well not much! This is where you come in to help make this bonfire fun. Since there's no picnic tables on the beach, I'd like to keep the food situation as simple as possible. Let's bring food and drinks for ourselves (no alcohol or glass bottles allowed on the beach) and food/snacks to share with the group.
Dogs are welcome but please promise to keep a close eye on your furry bff throughout the party - especially when the bonfire kicks in - and pick up their business (let us know in comments you're bringing your K9). Remember no dogs off leash are allowed South of stairwell 21, due to the protected area for the Western Snowy Plover, a threatened bird species: http://www.nps.gov/goga/planyourvisit/upload/sb-plight_web.pdf
Some items we'll need as a group:
large plastic storage containers with secured lids to store food away from the pups
large cooler with ice for food/drink storage
music/tunes (any dj's in the group? please no sad breakup songs)
any untreated or unpainted wood to throw in the firepit - refer to this link: http://www.nps.gov/goga/upload/sb-firerings.pdf
Parking available along Great Highway. Bathrooms are located across the street at Beach Chalet, lower level on the right side.
Please add comments to let us know what you're bringing. Kudos to Anael for her suggestion to have an end of summer bonfire.
See you at the beach! -- Karen H
