If you have a dog or are a dog lover, come join us to walk barefoot on Ocean Beach with our beach buddies. Yes you read correctly: walk barefoot! This is the best way to enjoy Ocean Beach. You know you'll get sand in your shoes walking from the stairwell to the shore so you might as well take off your shoes or sandals, roll up your pant legs & enjoy the wet cold sand at your feet. But be forewarned: there's a good chance you'll get slobbered and drooled on, licked incessantly, sniffed at inappropriately and/or get kick-sanded at -- and that's just from the other dogs we'll meet along Ocean Beach! Don't get me started on what my K9 bff Molly may do to you after just 1 minute running around wild on the sand. Also keep a close lookout for the it-can-happen-any-time wet doggy shake if you want to avoid getting splattered with saltwater. Don't say I didn't warn you.
If none of the above has deterred you (the non-dog owner) then we'd love to have you join us for conversation, salty breezes, surf(er) watching and wind blown hair - you haven't seen wind blown until you've seen my hair!
We'll meet at 10am at stairwell 1 and take it from there. All the pups can be off-leash all the way up to stairwell 21 (look for the large bird sign as the marking point) then we'll turn around to head back so we don't disturb the Western Snowy Plover (a threatened bird species) and at the same time we can keep our playful pups off leash. Bring water and snacks as needed for you and and your pooch and doggie bags for cleanup. Please note this is an optional "BYOD" - no worries if you don't have a dog. We'll meet plenty of them along the way. Any questions email Karen H.
