Some of you know I volunteer in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. A few years ago I started spending 2-3 days a week running the Towpath and the trails. Eventually, I became a volunteer, and, through my work with the Conservancy for CVNP, have become passionate about this amazing recreational area. Since we're all outdoors people, I want to share this outdoor opportunity.
Right now, the park is seeking volunteers to be part of the hike (and snow shoe), bike, ski, and horse patrol group called Trailblazers. Trailblazer recruitment only happens every few years, so if you've thought about getting into the outdoors more, check this out.
Trailblazers assist interpretive and protection rangers by providing information, basic first aid, and bike maintenance to visitors on the multi-use Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail and over 100 miles of hiking trails in CVNP. An informational meeting will be held Thursday, December 13, 7 p.m., at Happy Days Lodge (500 W. Streetsboro Road, Peninsula). I've attached a flyer to this site as my CSK picture. Volunteer applications are being accepted until Monday, January 7, 2013.
