Ockham's Cafe: Wednesdays in Cordova

Are we alone in the universe?  If we aren't, where do these aliens live?  Who are these aliens? And should we bring them a casserole?

Someone also mentioned the impact of the discovery of aliens on our world religions with a humorous, friendly, tongue-and-cheek question to one of our Catholic Ockhamites: Will the aliens recognize the new Pope as their leader?  We may also want to explore that.

The best book I've read on extraterrestrial life, by a professional exo-biologist, is called: Rare Earth: Why Complex Life Is Uncommon in the Universe http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/0...

It's a great book, and justifies it's point based on the best science of its day. It was written before the Kepler mission found so many worlds via the transit method, but all of the points raised in the book still confirm to the current state of planetary and biological knowledge.
