Hayao Miyazaki's Spirited Away On The Big Screen! - Cleveland Anime Group

NEW PARKING INFO AND WHERE TO MEET THE GROUP:

The Cleveland Cinematheque is located INSIDE the Cleveland Institute of Art's Gund Building. There is FREE PARKING inside the parking lot for the building during Cinematheque open hours, but you must access the lot on East Blvd (the gate will be open only on this side). The East Blvd. entrance is literally directly across from the Botanical gardens. You can't miss the Cinematheque sign. Once inside, keep driving to the second parking lot area, that is where the entrance is.

WHERE TO MEET THE GROUP:

The show starts at 9:30 and I anticipate a large crowd so please arrive 30 minutes early to guarantee a seat and a parking spot. It's a huge auditorium but let's play it safe. Tickets are $9.00 (or $5 if you're 25 and under). I will be waiting for the group outside (right next to the bike rack) at 9PM.  At 9:10 we will all head inside and get seating. I will then wait for anyone else right outside the Cinematheque doors (near the ticket table) until 9:20.  But please arrive on time (at 9PM) so we can all get good seating and sit in the same area.

PRICING:

CASH ONLY

$9 a ticket or $5 if you are age 25 or under

The Cleveland Institute of Art's Cinematheque will be showing seven STUDIO GHIBLI films (all directed by Hayao Miyazaki) this month and next month. All films will show in new, English-subtitled 35mm prints. This is a wonderful (and rare) opportunity to see these amazing films on the big screen!

What is parking like down here? I've never been there before - is there onsite parking or is it right down town? Just trying to figure out if I need to get money before I leave for parking :) Also is anyone interested in carpooling from the east side? We could meet at panerra in Solon? Or wheever is conveinent. Let me know. I can take 4 with me.

I'll send out a mass email to everyone who RSVPed to explain the parking and where to meet.

I went and saw Totoro. :-) There was a pretty good turnout. The video and audio on the new 35mm film print was very good.

I saw Totoro as well. I went on opening night it was a fantastic turnout! I was surprised by the number of children though seeing as how it was subtitled.

I went on Sat. I think it almost doesn't need subtitles. The expressions animated on the characters can pretty much tell the story.

I'd be down for any of these. I own Spirited Away (and most of the others) already but it is a great film, and going to the movies is always fun. I've never seen Porco Rosso or Nausicaa Either.
