CaseCon (FREE Anime Convention)

UPDATED INFO: This is a 100% FREE anime convention, including Free and discounted food/snacks (hot meals cost $3 dollars, other snacks and drinks are free). This is an anime convention held at Case Western University - It begins at 10am on November 3rd, runs all through the night, and ends around 5pm on November 4th. I don't know what people who don't go to school there do for sleeping arrangements??? Normally these are held at hotels, so not sure. I guess the "running through the night" is really only helpful if you're a student or know someone that will let you crash with them.

It is RARE to find a FREE anime convention. They DO have speakers and panels and various things and will be showing pretty much 48 straight hours of anime. I plan to try to check it out Saturday night after the balljoint doll meetup.

I was nice it was like any other marathon given by Japan CASE, but it started earlier and ended earlier. After talking to the club president who explained why!

I don't know if I met any of you here (I was the guy wearing the Finn hat), but it was a really fun event regardless.

Any suggestions for parking? And Nord Hall is in the quad right?

Reposted from my post on Facebook:

I made a Google Map awhile ago for my troupe's activities but since they centered around Nord Hall and the CWRU campus, it will work for CaseCon too.

The biggest thing to remember is to check the signs for posted hours. Most parking on the public streets is non-metered on the weekends (the signs on the meters do explain this and they DO NOT ticket on weekends and evenings). Some of the CWRU parking lots are open on the weekend too (the signs don't say but it's practice and word has officially been given to some student groups it's OK). Meters in CWRU lots are said to be enforced 24/7 but that's questionable if they do it (still, park at those at your own risk).

Yes it is, right across from Strossacker I think I spelled that right. See Brian's comment on parking. I'm sorry that I'm not more helpful on that Ami.

Guys in Jenilee's absence I've offered to meet with those of us who are going. Ami, if you've attended Case this is just a renaming of their Fall Marathon. With that said if you'd like to meet I'll be in Nord Hall at 9:45am. at to door to the hall. Holler for Cordon or Donn. See you there!

Our ball joint doll slash nature walk is the same day so I plan to spend probably 1 til 3 or 4 at Holden Arboretum, then head to the convention in the afternoon, directly after that.

Oh, are we meeting up someplace and then going, or meeting there, or is this just general info for anyone interested in going?

I went to Case and usually they have events that are open to the public but they don't actually do much to publicize them. The end result is mostly Case/CIA/CIM students go so they don't make much effort to provide info on hotel arrangements. In fact, I bet they'd be surprised if others did go. I think this is an awesome idea though, definitely will be there. I don't remember them ever offering an anime convention though, this must be new.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
