Waiting List Early Morning Buffalo Shoot at Vista Grand Ranch

Since we are under the head count limit I previously opened this up to anyone who did RSVP and you can bring up to one guest.  See you there, read the instructions carefully.

UPDATE:  PRIOR WAITING LIST OPPORTUNITY

This July outing is for the following persons who were unable to attend previously in March as they were on the waiting list.  I have been able to get another visit to the Ranch for those would could not attend previously.

Andrea Scheidler, Atsu Tayake, Bob Corman, Dale Casto, Dan Pater, Dave Menninger, Dyane Kirkland, J, James Szuch, Jeff Harmon, Jenny Gandert, Jerry Bedwell, Jo-Ann Koch, Joe Becker, John Mann, JUDITH K. LINDSEY, Kabir Bakie, Kathy Auer, Kris Fowler, Lynnette, Mardav Bakshi, Mary Nemeth, Muir Robertson, Nick Schirz, Rebecca Cole, Rick Ianniello, Ruth Blackwell, Sabrina Thompson, Sherry Joy, Tammy Kiger, and Vicky J. Erickson

Attendance Rules: I will move any name not in the above list to new waiting list for this photo shoot.  If we don't reach 30 names I will then allow those who did not attend before to move off the waiting list.   Lastly I will take repeat requests in waiting list order if there is space.

I will put an "OVCC" sign at the entrance so you drive down the right driveway.  This is a working ranch, be sure to wear boots that can get a bit dirty and have a clean pair for your car and for the breakfast if you are participating.  Weather can always be a factor so pay attention to any updates or to protect your gear.  Breakfast afterwards will be at the Frisch's at 1052 Old US 52 near an IGA and McDonalds.  They have a breakfast buffet that helps facilitate our number.

We will shoot buffalo at the Vista Grand Ranch run by Cindy Cassell and David Uible, in New Richmond, Ohio. The 171 acre ranch used to be a dairy farm, however, they settled on raising buffalo which require less supervision than dairy cattle.  RSVPs will open 60 days in advance of the event.

Why so early? It will be cooler.  We will be allowed to photograph the large barn, chickens, dogs, and peacocks.  To learn more about Grand Vista Ranch see this web-site:  http://www.vistagrandranch.com/

In exchange for this opportunity I have offered David to give him copies of our photos.  Like we did for the Ohio Valley Carriage Club I will create two photo albums - photos you are happy to let Vista Grand Ranch have and one for those you prefer not to give.

Directions:

See the Meetup Map link above.  Located at 2652 Ohio Route 132 in New Richmond, Ohio 45157.  The Ranch entrance is the long driveway just above the "A" below to the area in the lower right, and is located between Goebell Hill and Riebel Ridge roads.  Or: coming in from US52 the driveway is 2.2 miles north of SR 132, if from SR 125 it is 5 miles south.

Entrance to Vista Grand Ranch

Parking: Once you get to the ranch follow the driveway until you get the circle near the large barn and park in a field at the top of the driveway to keep the cars out of our photographs.

Breakfast: at Frisch's per above for anyone who is interested after the shoot.

I also liked being serenaded by the Mockingbird, it had quite the repertoire it performed.

So I didn't get to see the peacock at the buffalo farm. I didn't go to breakfast with the group, I decided to head down to the river on Front St in New Richmond.

Low and behold the peacock that had "escaped" was down there. Friendly fellow. Will post pics from today after I sift through all of them.

That is Jacob the Peacock, he moved from the ranch to downtown to be famous.

Second visit did not work out, the buffalo were not sequestered in the field and were AWOL. David apologized multiple times, and gave us a rain check for a repeat visit with buffalo in the spring.

So sorry to cancel my reservation but I'm having breathing problems this morning and I don't think this trip would be good for my asthma right now. I hope to make it next time and am looking forward to meeting the group.

At this point we have not covered all of the openings so everyone who has RSVP'd can attend. Tripods are a definite "yes" and there is a huge amount of room. Last time the owner allowed about 10 at a time to go into the field and get as close as you can before they spook and run away. I would recommend a long lens such as a 200 mm or higher.

Didn't read the whole notice for this meet up. I was lucky enough to get to go in March, so I have taken my name off this one. Guess I should read thoroughly before signing up. Hope you all have good weather!

I would like to be on the waiting list also. I guess when I checked that I was going earlier it did not register so I am now. Thanks for the invite! By the way, David Uible is also one of the Clermont County commissioners.
