Our 3rd Annual Springtime Island Writers Retreat...
2014's spring retreat is at the "President's Cottage" on Middle Bass Island, Friday, May 16th to Sunday, May 18th. You're invited to get away with us, to spend quality time with your writing and like-minded writers.
Note: If there are profits from this retreat, they will go to the repair and restoration of the President's Cottage.
The $225 reservation fee covers everything, including round-trip passenger tickets for the ferry boat, transport to/from the island ferry dock, overnight accommodations in your private cottage room for two nights, all meals and beverages for three days, planned group writing activities and your own uninterrupted "quiet time" during this unique and relaxing weekend retreat.
French explorers long ago named Middle Bass Island the "Isle de Fleurs" because of its wildflowers. If April showers bring May flowers, then we should be in for a blossoming treat. Historic Lonz Winery, although closed for the time being, remains a popular "Kodak moment" along with its glacial grooves, the bald eagle's nest, views of Perry's Monument, and Lake Erie sunsets.
Middle Bass is often confused with its busier sister, South Bass Island, where Put-in-Bay attracts tourists, including boating and weekend party crowds. By contrast, Middle Bass Island is ideal for a writers retreat at the "President's Cottage" where President Taft slept. Bring your binoculars, journals, camera, and comfortable walking shoes and explore "The Grove" where he and the First Lady enjoyed the natural shade and sunset views.
Reservations are limited so, if this retreat fills up, there will be a first-come, first-served waiting list in place. Sorry, smoking and pets are not permitted on the premises.
