Reserve Now & Join Us the First Weekend in October! Our Annual Autumn Writers Retreat on Middle Bass Island is Saturday, October 1st and Sunday, October 2nd, 2011. The $125 retreat fee includes round-trip passenger tickets for the ferry boat, transportation to/from the Middle Bass docks, and overnight accommodations in a private cottage room, plus all meals, beverages, and planned group activities and "quiet time" at this unique weekend getaway. French explorers originally named Middle Bass Island the "Isle de Fleurs" because of its native floral landscape. Today, Middle Bass is sometimes confused with its noisier sister island South Bass, known to most tourists as Put-in-Bay. The historic Lonz Winery, although temporarily closed, remains one of MBI's most popular "Kodak moments" along with glacial grooves, the eagle's nest and Lake Erie sunsets. Middle Bass is referred to as "the quieter island" and is ideal for our annual autumn writing retreat. Bring your bicycle, camera, and good walking shoes. Reservations are limited, so in case this retreat fills up there will be a waiting list. Special requests and room preferences will be honored on a first-come, first-served basis.
Sorry to report that Sally won't be able to join us after all, because of a health problem. We wish her a speedy recovery.
If you've been thinking of coming to our annual autumn island retreat, there is now a spot that can be reserved.
