"Skeptics' Guide to the Universe" at Ohlone College!

Come meet all FIVE hosts of the wildly popular science and skepticism podcast

"The Skeptics' Guide to the Universe"

Live and in person!

The Ohlone College Psychology Department, in cooperation with the Bay Area Skeptics, is proud to announce a private meet-and-greet with Steve Novella, Bob Novella, Jay Novella, Rebecca Watson, and Evan Bernstein from "The Skeptics' Guide to the Universe." Come join us for some light refreshments, get your picture taken with the hosts of SGU, ask them that question that you've always been dying to ask, or just hang out with like-minded folks who are also interested in all things skeptic and science.

The venue is the Student Services Building (Building 7) on the SOUTH side of the campus, at the top of the hill. Please use the entrance at Pine Street, and parking lots N, O, and P for parking. These lots will be FREE for our guests on this evening (after 5pm), so do not purchase a daily parking permit. Please follow all normal parking regulations (e.g., red curbs, handicap parking, etc.), and do not park in spots reserved for college administrators. Refer to THIS LINK for a campus map.

The link to print a ticket has mysteriously disappeared.  I have completed the guest list, though, and have printed name badges for everyone, so let's just forget about the stupid tickets (which people could have made copies of anyway, right?).

If you register with MeetUp by a code name, handle, or only part of your name, please send me a message and let me know your REAL name. I will be printing name badges the event (which you are required to wear, by the way) so I can control the size of the crowd, and prevent crashers. The venue is small, and subject to fire code rules.

Thanks Sheldon for making this happen. I actually thought I was going to see an SGU type show with a Science or Fiction segment and audience participation etc. But when I learned it was a meet and greet I just re-calibrated and it was... awesome.

Great meeting new people and the Rogues, but I wish they would have said a few words when they first came. I was disappointed when everyone just began mingling.

It was great to meet the SGU, but I was really disappointed by the format/venue combination. It didn't lend itself to the venue: it would have been great in a bar with drinks. Sheldon had a great idea about putting a member of SGU in smaller rooms, but didn't actually do it. It should have been organized so that we didn't feel we were interrupting previous conversations: having distinct areas of "You want to meet X, go here" would have helped. The SGU folks were great and gracious.

I don't know about others, but I was like a kid on Christmas morning. I was so giddy the whole night, I didn't get half of my questions asked. Here it is the morning after and I'm in utter disbelief of the fun I had last night.
Sheldon, you really know how to make it happen. YOU ARE THE MAN!!!

The waiting list was eliminated several days ago.

What's the situation for people who were on the waiting list?

  • Sheldon W. H.

Sorry, but the deadline for this event has passed.

I was far down on the waiting list, but saw 1 open slot 10 min ago, so I registered, but don't know if I "made it in" or not. Don't quite understand the ticketing thing (and have an unreliable printer anyway.) Could you please check the tail end of the list for me? I live about 40 miles away and would hate to drive, then have be in excess.

I have no idea where I am on this waiting list--but, I hope to attend.

Thank you to those folks that have received my telepathic transfer and updated their RSVP when they realized they were unable to attend. I have moved up to 3rd on the Wait List and continue to visualize myself in the top 100. (Wearing all my Placebo Wrist Bands too.)

@Scott: I'm making my son stay home just so you can be at the top of the waiting list. ;-)

Do we need to print anything for our +1, or just the one ticket for both of us? Thanks for setting this up Sheldon! And making it free!

Thank you Illustrious leader! I would have gladly paid, but I am happy it is free. See you there! :) I can't wait to see what other lectures you have lined up. So far, you are batting a thousand!!

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
