Tell a little about your interest in pinball.

I'm electronically inclined, so naturally, I'm fascinated by the inner workings of solid state pinball machines. As somewhat of a perfectionist, I'm also fascinated by the time and dedication that goes into creating/crafting a new machine. (1 year minimum to design according to Ripley's Believe It or Not. xP Thanks Stern for continuing to make these things.) It's a fascination I had as a kid, growing up in the arcade (what was Aladdin's Castle in crossroads Mall, was practically my home) After viewing some PAPA tournament footage, I pretty much got hooked. So pinball for me, is about several things. Most important of those things, is my childhood nostalgia, which i'm sure is not unique to just myself.

How many, if any, machines do you own?

I currently own 1, because it's really all I have the space for at the moment. It's a near perfect HUO Baywatch, apparently owned by only 1 other person outside of the guy I got it from.(grain of salt info) I bought it mainly due to a lack of quality machines in the area. Which is now not the case thanks to Slingshots (formerly cactus jacks). Very happy with my purchase. Just need to get a full LED kit at this point.

What experiences would you like to gain by joining this group?

Anything and everything. Anything from auctions to meetups to tournaments. I'm down for it all. Like I said, I'm always excited to meet like minded people. Pinball, the great unifier. xP I'd also like to get advice on maintenance/refurbishing machines if people are willing to take the time to teach me what they know. (The basics are self explanatory) Really, Just meeting nice people who see pinball for more than 'a way to make some cash'.

How did you find out about us?

I stumbled across Shawn Lee working on some machines at Slingshots while he was working on getting the newly installed machines up and running. (Great work so far, just played a few games up there tonight.)

Introduction

I'm a 90's kid and as such, I caught the end of the arcade era. I remember when you could go to a pizza place and find a well maintained pinball machine to play. I miss those days. lol

What Matt N. is saying about this Meetup Group

Great! Everyone I met was very helpful and incredibly nice. If this group continues to grow and evolve with members like the ones I met, it will truly become something special for those involved. I highly recommend attending the meetups even if a bit of a drive is required! Well worth your time if you're into pinball.
