Ever worry that your small dog will get trampled on by larger dogs at the local park - especially when the larger dogs are having a blast, playing excitedly, and not at all aware of your little Fido or Tinkles? I started this play group so together we can find a larger number of safe, enclosed places for our tykes to play in North Mississippi and West Tennessee. We want to keep all members safe and healthy so all doggie members should have a smile on their face, be fairly healthy, have their shots, be de-wormed, and have no fleas, mites, etc. This is optional for pet parents. ;)
My vision has been to start an off-leash, small-dog park in Olive Branch and the surrounding areas. But I need to gauge the amount of interest first, and I think this group will be the first step. I hope to get input from members on places to meet for play dates or walks (see ’Discussions’ tab at the top, then click on ‘Message Board’). UPDATE: There is now one in Collierville, and I'm working with Shelby Farms to add one to the dog park area.
Eventually, this group may expand to offer other opportunities such as doggie hikes, doggie playgrounds and agility courses, spay and neuter awareness, training and care, and educating small-dog owners on dog etiquette, good doggie citizenship, and wellness. It depends on how far we want to take it.
