Demonstration of 80/20 Components by the Local 80/20 Distributor

Nick Rodriguez will be here on Saturday June 22nd at 11:00am at the space with their Demo Van. Anyone who builds anything probably should know about all of the components that 80/20 can provide. This will be a great opportunity to see what the component system offers, as well as other services that 80/20 provides. Let's get a pile of people there!  Those who are not familiar with 8020 components (t-slot aluminum extrusions, fasteners, etc.) should take a look at the 80/20 website:  www.8020.net.

Good to actually see a lot of the components. I wish there had been more of a 'demonstration' but I understand why Nick did it that way.

So? What happened? Perhaps we could discuss this in the Olymega forum: forum.olymega.org

The bought down a cart with lots of 80/20 stuff and answered questions, there was not much of a demonstration per se, just telling people what 80/20 was. I did get the current price list. We can't publish that but I will get a copy to you.

What is 80/20? I've never heard of it. Can you give a little more info, or a link? Must be good if Polymorph is ranting about missing it...

Dan, 80/20 makes aluminum t-slot extrusions and lots of components. A lot of people/companies are making the frames of 3d printers and cnc machines with them. But there is so much more you can do with them... The main company website is www.8020.net.

Michael and I are designing a CNC mill based partly on the ShapeOko design. It uses all 8020. Since we're scaling it up, rather than Makerslide, which is based on 20mm size, I think we'll use the slightly larger 25mm size with Openrail.

I can't think of a reason why I can't make it if I get enough sleep the previous night(carrying a majority of what I own is trying). If I determine that it's not too tiring I will address more of the future meet ups.

Darnit! I have a longstanding prior commitment the entire day.

I'd really, really like to see this. Can you videotape it?

    May 12, 2013

    • Michael R.

I'll see if I can find someone who is willing to videotape it. Otherwise I am meeting with Nick this Wednesday to go over what we might be most interested in. I'm supposed to meet with him somewhere in Olympia at 11:00am. If you are available you are welcome to show up and/or I will get you a dvd or catalog.
