Let's design circuit boards!

Learn how to design your own printed circuit boards using EAGLE PCB software on your computer.

Advanced EAGLE -- B1 - Using the Library Editor to make custom components
Using the EAGLE Library Editor to create custom electronic components for use in your circuit board designs. You will learn how to create a symbol for the schematic editor, a physical package footprint the the board editor and how to tie them together.

This is one of six, two hour, classes in this series. This OlyMEGA Classroom Series is split into Basic and Advanced sections with three classes each. Anyone can attend this class however, it may be a bit advanced for younger persons. This class will require some basic knowledge of electronics but no prior circuit board design knowledge will be assumed. The class will work with a pre-selected, simple circuit design.

The cost per class is $5.00 and free for OlyMEGA members. Pre-payments for the entire series are encouraged. 100% of proceeds will benefit OlyMEGA for day-to-day operations so that they may continue to bring you classes and workshops such as this. Of course, any additional donations are always graciously accepted.

The classes will be offered on Fridays starting at 6PM sharp. There will be an "echo" of the same class on the following Monday at 6PM. So, if you miss the Friday class, you can catch the Monday one. Or, if you wish, you can re-take the same class again at no additional charge.

You should bring a laptop in order to follow along with the course material. We will install the current version of EAGLE or you can pre-install it (available here: http://www.cadsoftusa.com). It is good to have a mouse with a scroll wheel if you have one as it makes zooming easier, but it is not required. The EAGLE software download is free for personal use. If you do not have a computer, there will be a few OlyMEGA laptops available for use during  the class on a first-come-first-served basis. Space is limited so be sure to RSVP early if you wish to attend.

The name EAGLE is an acronym, which stands for Easily Applicable Graphical Layout Editor. This award winning software offers user friendly, powerful and affordable solutions for PCB design, including Schematic Capture, Board Layout and Autorouter.

It all made more sense. I am kind of starting in the middle, but that's the case with most things.

Hi Jason! There is no problem with coming late. This is not the first class however. This is the first of the advanced series. You can still learn about the software though. I taught this class last Friday and there were some new people so I did much re-hashing for their benefit. It would be great to meet you. Bring your laptop and scroll-wheel mouse if you have one. Otherwise, you can borrow one of ours.
