Lacey S.T.E.M. Fair & Grand Prix Electric Car Races

Free event!

Come join us! If you have something to show off, let me know. [masked] Or if you want to help at the table so we can all get a break and see the rest of the fair, that's good, too.

What is S.T.E.M.? It stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics and it is the future! Don’t miss this new event that will showcase School clubs and teams from all over Thurston County sharing their S.T.E.M. projects with hands on activities for kids, demonstrations, display, and more. Highlights of the day include:
Display of an airplane built by Bush Middle School students
Air powered rocket demonstrations
Robotics demonstrations and competition
The Lacey Grand Prix

It’s an all electric car rally! Since 1998 Lacey has hosted teams from around the Pacific Northwest at this Electrathon America sanctioned event featuring an endurance competition for electric vehicles from around the Pacific Northwest. High school teams and hobbyists race their custom made electric cars in an effort to drive the most times around the ¼ mile course in one hour. Come out and cheer on our own River Ridge High School EV Club team!

Note: I've moved the Elements of Radio class back to 3:30pm, but it and the party are still going on. Join us there after the STEM fair!

Loads of fun! Lots of people came by our tables. We had Laser cut toys and boxes, robots with tracking vision, a 3D printer, and software defined radio.

Nice attendance, not-so-nice weather, but we're in WA, so was all good...

I agree. I thought it went well.

Yes, we managed with the weather. Decent crowd, even without taking the weather into consideration.

Hi everyone, I will be going, and bringing my 3D printer. I might also bring my wife.

I'm not heating my bed either. I disabled the fan on the head and want to try the floor polish.

No fan? The original fan shroud wasn't focusing on the head, and it had problems. I printed one that has a nozzle that directs it right at/under the head, and printing improved immensely.

Not having a fan may in fact cause warping due to slow cooling. PLA shrinks very little -after- it has passed below the soft stage, which is much higher in temperature than with ABS.

I'm bringing one canopy, a not very large table, and a couple of folding chairs. Is anyone else bringing a canopy, table, and chairs?

I'm bringing a pair of display easels and a couple of chairs. I plan to only use one of the easels.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
