Carpool! Who wants to carpool to the 3D printing primer at StudentRND?

If you are going, RSVP for both this Meetup and the Make:Seattle Meetup:
http://www.makeseattle.net/events/82772252/

The Meetup starts at 10:30am, I said 9:00am for our Meetup as that is when we should meet to carpool. If there are only a few of us, I can drive my car, if we have more than four total we can take my van. Bring a few bucks for gas and lunch.

I have the carpool set to leave from my house, but we can change that if necessary, as long as you contact me in advance. If you live further north, I might be willing to pick you up on the way as long as we are not going too far off of I-5. There is a park-n-ride in Lacey at the College/Martin Way ramp, and one in Tacoma at 56th St exit on the east side of I-5.

In October, after we go around the room, we will have a workshop for beginners who haven't done a plastic extruded 3-D print before, and want to learn the basics of doing their own.

We will start by using Sketch-Up, a delightful 3-D modeling CAD tool. Have something in mind that you would like to print, and we will show you how to create the virtual version in Sketch-Up.

Next we will convert the Sketch-Up .SKP file into a .STL file using a Sketch-Up plug-in.

Then we will use NetFab which does .STL clean up, preparing it for printing.

Finally we will convert our .STL files into gcode files, ready for printing.

See you there!

A great presentation for 3-D interest. People showed objects, talked about materials, and issues with printing. It was good to visit this maker site, and to see the excitement of the crew.

That was fun, sorry more members couldn't make it.
