LEDs and Arduino workshop day 1

  • October 9, 2012 · 7:00 PM

Day one of a two day workshop (second day is Thursday).  This is one step short of a complete beginner's class.

Rough outline:

  • LED theory and basics
  • Arduino setup
  • monocolor LEDs
  • RGB LED with digital outs (8 color mode)
  • RGB LED with PWM color mixing
  • Getting input from pots/buttons to select colors/modes
  • Digressions into fancy driver chips, charlieplexing, and the next class as time permits

We'll have some LEDs, resistors, and a few Arduino compatibles for lending/buying.  Better still if you have your own already.  Bring a laptop!

Cost:  FREE for paid members, $10 for this class for the general public.

If this is too basic, stay tuned for Part 2 description -- it happens on the 11th.

Thanks for coming out, everyone...I hope to see you all tomorrow!

I'd like to point to the class code reservoir: https://github.com/OlyMEGA/LED-C...

The "blink" and "fade" examples are included in the Arduino IDE. A few more examples will get added for Thursday.

Great to see new people in the space and to have another great class in the books.
