Mt. Rose conditioner.

I have Tuesday off, so I am thinking of Mt. Rose. This will be a rain or shine trip unless it is really nasty. Right now the forecast is for cloudy with a chance of showers.

You will need traction (Microspikes) and rain gear, the ten essentials, etc. we should be back to Olympia by 5pm.

Fun day with great companions. And we had both kinds of NW winter weather: rain and snow. Delicious meal while waiting for the Hoodsport rush hour to clear up. Thanks all.

It was a great trip in miserable weather. Everyone did well and seemed happy despite the conditions.

Good Hike, Nice group. Timing for dinner couldn't have been better.
Thanks for organizing and leading Jim. Thanks for your selective choice of photos Chris.

Our hike began with rain that changed to big fluffy snow as we reached Horse Camp at 3,050. Afterwards we stopped at Hoodsport for Mexican food and found out we otherwise would have waited two hours a mile down the road for the State Patrol to clear an accident. Somehow this proves that doing what's fun is also the right thing to do.https://www.facebook.com/media/s...

Right now, we have a total of 8 people going (if Kyle goes). We are meeting at the REI store (7:45 am) and then driving to Steamboat to pick up Jack. This is a mixed group and will not be fast. The Weather forecast is actually looking better toady, so hope for the best.

Mount Rose is great. I'm still going to bring micro spikes just in case, and be prepared for new snow.

If you end up with too many people for your vehicle I would be happy to drive my truck. We can decide at the Fire Station.

I have added as a guest Bill Carleton who works at REI. I may also add our son Kyle, which would give us 5 total. Kyle and Bill went up Ellinor with me last month (on 2 different trips). Hope for reasonable weather.

I am glad to see Bill is joining us. In the back country, three is better than 2.
