Again, apologies for the late announcement of the location. I had decided yesterday on Thai Pavilion, but as they are closed on Sundays, it was not until now that I could give them a heads up that we were coming (and make sure that would work for them, and for us). It will.
So Thailand isn't exactly part of the Spanish-speaking world, but the "Spanish" choices locally are Mexican, Mexican, Mexican, and Salvadoran, with 18 other countries left out of the mix (19, if you count Equatorial Guinea). The advantages at Thai Pavilion are the choices. Anything can be made vegetarian, with or without tofu or tempeh, but there are still choices for the meat eaters, too. If you don't want white rice there is Thai brown rice (actually slightly purple). Heat is on a five-star scale, with three stars being just slightly uncomfortable for someone used to downing Mexican salsas, or about right, if for whatever reason today you just want to "feel the burn."
Out of consideration for anyone who might share whatever I order, I tend to order without any spice and have them deliver the spice (red pepper flakes) directly to the table, so everyone can adjust the spice on their own plate.
Although I enjoy the Asian restaurant tradition of everyone orders something and everything gets passed around, I know not everyone likes to do that, and no one has to. Ordering and eating your own is also an option.
Thai Pavilion is at 303 4th Ave E (at Franklin) in downtown Olympia. Meetup is officially at 6pm. It is not uncommon for people to arrive anywhere from 6 to 6:30 ish, and to head out anywhere from 7:30 to 9 or so.
If you are coming, please be sure you have RSVPed on the meetup site, so I can let the restaurant know if we are now 20 and no longer 8 or 10. Thanks.
Nos vemos (see you there),
