Urban Onion Happy Hour, Music in the Park, and Maybe? Open Mic at the Pig Bar

SEVERAL of us enjoyed the first Music in the Park on July 10th. The next one is July 17th. I like to get there early, set out my chair/blanket, pick up my raffle tix, and hang at the Urban Onion for an hour or so beforehand for Happy Hour (Beers start at 2 bucks, shrimp tacos were yummy!).

You can Google the bands or find their Facebook pages to hear examples of their music, but why not just go? It's in a beautiful setting (Sylvester Park) and is free; they hold free raffles which are fun, and the music is great. Sometimes there is even dancing!

Afterwards, we can always head over to the Pig Bar (at South Bay BBQ just down the street at 619 Legion Way SE) for Open Music Mic Night hosted by Scott Lesman where beers start at $1.50 a draft ... the music is outdoors when the weather is good!

Here is a video compilation of the Bobby Medina and the Red Hot Band who will play on July 17th http://youtu.be/OdlkutK6QmI - I see more dancing in the near future ...

5:30ish-7 Urban Onion
7-8 pm Music in the Park
8:30ish South Bay BBQ Pig Bar - Music starts after 9 pm AND IS WELL WORTH WAITING FOR!!

Don't be shy, show up and join us at anytime of the evening!

This is cross-posted with the Let's Play Olympia group.

I may not get free in time for the Urban Onion part, but will be there for the concert. I'm walking into downtown from out east.

Bruce, we were there, about 8 of us. We will almost always be sitting right in front of the stage or almost in front, next to the sidewalk where everybody dances at Music in the Park. The group diminishes greatly at the Pig, but we were at the very same picnic table as last week. JoAnn, me, Lorraine and Steve. One of these weeks, you'll find us! :)

You are right. It is hard to find the group if you do not meet at the Onion. It gets easier as you recognize folks more. The park's dance floor was sparsely filled. Lorraine swing danced a third of the songs. A couple of other ladies danced some too. Guess as a group we should aspire to getting more folks on the dance floor to make it easier for others to find us. Forgotten how fun dancing can be. It was an enjoyable night.

See my comment below. I never found the group, so I can't rate it this time! But last time at Pig Bar was really fun.

This next time, as much as I like the tall tables next to the window, I think we should grab some of the lower tables so that we can all be together ... ??? We were kinda spread out in three different areas (or more for folks I didn't recognize!)

Outside of meeting Sue on a hike last Sat, do not know anyone that has signed up. Will look around Urban Onion for a group of smiling faces. There is a chess club that meets somewhere in the building at the same time. May pop in there first, look around and then join yawl before getting into too much trouble.

Ack! I have to work til 6 and then will get there as soon as I can after. If you are there early, can y'all stake out the grassy area where we were last time? I'm sorry! Weird day! I will come shortly after 6 to Urban Onion after I throw my chair and blanket down!! I'm wearing jeans, blue birks, and a tan/blue tshirt with a tan hoodie. I'll post my cell in a minute, in case you need to text me.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
