Bitcoin 201

Thought it may be time for another regular meetup. I can present/discuss for 40 minutes on "advanced" topics on the law of bitcoin, buying on exchanges and altcoins. Good for those still relatively new to coins. Plan on meeting at 6:30 PM with presentation/discussion not starting until 7:00 PM. Date and time are flexible if enough of us want to change it.

Also notable this month - PizzaWest is accepting bitcoin! Or at least they are for our Meetups. Ask for Holly if you go, she is becoming adept at the transaction process.

Hey all, had an idea to stream the Meetup live this week. At least the presentation, Matt if you are cool with that. A lot of people in the Meetup don't get a chance to make it out, so I thought we could bring the Meetup to them and invite them to join in and comment on YouTube.
We could also attract people more rural, or in the Lincoln Meetup to participate live, with a Q&A.
I'll bring my laptop and try to work the details out before hand. Details to come. Thoughts?

Many of you know I'm a big fan of Blackcoin. One of the reasons finally made news on Coindesk. You may also know I was developing a cryptocurrency escrow area of my law practice, but BlackHalo/Bithalo has put me out of business there. Smart, unbreakable contracts with no third parties or fees that can be used to trade anything. Bitcoin or blackcoin are used for the escrow. The developer believes that blackcoin will be preferred because bitcoin is just too slow. This is revolutionary if only because it eliminates the need for lawyers and escrow agents for people to securely trade with each other. http://www.coindesk.com/bithalo-smart-contracts-without-block-chain-bloat/

It doesn't put you out of business - it simplifies your time to market. You will still be the face of BlackHalo for your clients, you can use it for them, and serve as the expert. A lot of people aren't going to have the knowledge/take the time to figure out how to use it, but they'll pick up the phone and make a call to you to initiate the transaction. I think you still have room to maneuver.

If you haven't seen this 80 minute BTC speech asking the question; "Can Bitcoin End War"?, imo it's worth the watch or just listen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YDk62HApDa8#t=524

Hey guys. I and Payton, along with my brother, have been working on a big event for Bitcoin in the Old Market. See http://blockchainio.com/bigo-bitcoin-race/. Please provide feedback etc. Or if you want to sponsor contact me. Is it just me, or do things feel like they are building up steam? Please contact me if you have any bitcoin related meetings or talks or Meetup. I'll do my best to be there. Anyone interested in having a Google hangout about bitcoin in the near future?

Also, for those interested, I'm doing "Bitcoin: The Future of Money" at OSFest 7 (www.osfes.org) on Saturday, August 2 with Elsbeth Magilton, the Executive Director of the UNL College of Space, Cyber and Telcommunications Law. I'm doing "Bitcoin 201" at the convention on Sunday afternoon, August 3. OSFest is run by a 501(c)(3) charity, so you want to help or show support, please throw a coin or two in at the OSFES Digital WIshing Well http://www.osfes.org/osfes-digital-wishing-well/ I'm also presenting "Bitcoin: The Future of Money" at Omaha Northwest Rotary on Tuesday, August 5 at noon at Champion's Run in Omaha. Thanks!

So cool. I will try to be at all the above. Is there a registration or anything? Will the talks here be what you are presenting at the Meetup?

Yes, the "Bitcoin: The Future of Money" is a Bitcoin 101 that I presented at the meetup two months ago. Bitcoin 201 is new. There is registration at OSFest. At the Rotary meeting, if you send me an email you are coming I can meet you and get you in as a guest.

One more thing... If anyone wants to contribute to our blog, contact me. I know most of us are passionate and talented, so I'm sure you have lots of good things to write about. My site is kinda like an open forum, with a built-in editor for free.

Thanks for setting this up Tony. An in depth discussion of the NY BitLicense ruling will be timely.
