I'm a "fair weather" festival attendee and it looks like the storms will be headed our way by 5 so think I'll stay home!

Great concert! Memorial Weekend is always iffy as the weather goes... note to self. Thanks to everyone that came out. Awesome way to end a long weekend!

Anyone who is looking for us - we are on the south side of the stage in the middle near the sidewalk.

    May 27

  • Katie

We are headed to harrahs parking lot now.

Hi! I'd love to meet at Applebees too and follow ya'll there if that's cool! That's the one near 72nd and Dodge, right? Melody, I know we haven't met but is it ok if I text you when I get to Applebees? :)

    May 26

    • Ed

Melody, I will meet you there as well.

      May 27

    • Katie

Melody, I'm here at Applebee's. I have a silver Sebring. Looking forward to seeing you :)

FYI - this info was just released.

May 27, 2013- Severe weather, including 70-80 mile an hour winds and heavy rain swept through Tom Hanafan River's Edge Park last night causing some damage to the stage. Crews are working to get all repairs made, so in order to assure the safety of our performers, staff and the public, the Playing with Fire concert series will have a half-hour delay, with a projected start time of 4:30pm.

Bands are rolling in, excited to play and ready for a huge crowd!

The Food Truck Festival vendors are reduced significantly due to weather. Concessions and food will be available, but not to the extent as originally planned.

The grassy Parking lot F is closed, please consider parking in Harrah's North parking lot or across the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge.

As storms are a possibility throughout the day, media will be alerted and the River's Edge Park and Playing with Fire Concert-Omaha Facebook pages will be updated with the latest status of events.

I'll be at Applebees parking lot at 3:30. Weather report says anywhere from 0 percent to 30 or 50 percent so I'm headed into Omaha shortly. Yes Jen...bring chairs and anything you want to bring, beverages, etc. If it storms once we get there we can figure that out then:)

    • Ed

You may bring food and non-alcoholic beverages into the park, but no alcohol. There will be a food court on-site where you may purchase food and drinks, including beer and wine.

I have a paper due at midnight, and I'm nowhere near where I'd like to be....:(

  • Katie

This sounds awesome. Where is everyone meeting?

    May 25

    • Melody

Looks like rain is supposed to stop around 3pm yeahhh!!!

      May 25

    • Ed

Umm... I would bring your poncho. Looks like a 40-50% chance of precipitation throughout the day with a chance of thunderstorms.

As of this moment (Sunday PM), I'm not sure if I'm going to make it to this Monday concert at all. Please don't mess up your schedule waiting for me at Applebees, with only a 50/50 chance I'll be joining you <sigh>. If I can, I'll be there. If not, you have my orders to have fun !!

    May 26

    • Melody

      I'll take those orders Doris!

Does anyone know if there are posters for Loessfest available? Would be happy to do some additional promotion in my area...

I clicked around on the Loessfest site from the link above, and found a Media Contact, who could likely help: [masked]

Sharon Jones has cancelled :( Replaced by Vintage Trouble

    May 24

    • Ed

Dang, that is really disappointing. It should still be a really good line-up, though.

      May 25

  • Heather Sitcler

You can also park in the back lot of Harrahs and walk on the trail to the park.

    May 25

  • Melody

Thanks! I was still planning on carpooling Jen. AS far as the weather is concerned just holding out to see how rainy Monday is supposed to be. The news last night said for Omaha people to park downtown and walk across the bridge. Any suggestions?

    May 25

  • Jane-Marie

I'm sorry I can't make it. Have fun.

    May 23

  • Tyler

One of my favorite bands to see live! Glad I can be in Omaha this weekend!

    May 21

  • Melody

I think at least Heather is already in Council Bluffs... any suggestions?

I don't know these other bands but Satchel Grande is a lot of fun to see perform. I'll know if I can make it closer to the event date.

To be honest, I'm not a social coordinator kind of person - I just posted the event because it sounded like it would be a lot of fun. If you want to arrange a carpool to the park, that sounds fine to me. We have over a month to decide.

    April 23

  • Doris G

I'm just picturing something like gathering at the big parking lot at 76th & Dodge, between Best Buy and Applebees. It's never full this time of year, and pretty centrally located.

    April 23

  • Melody

It's up to you Ed... I probably can't carpool but I could follow other cars. I think meeting before hand is a great idea!

    April 22

  • Doris G

I've been thinking about the logistics of this event, with a crowd of so many people, and acres and acres of scattered parking. Perhaps we meet first in some mid-Omaha location, and car-pool from there? I'm thinking this would a) help with parking congestion at the event, and b) help us meet each other and 'find a friend or 2' before joining the bigger crowd. That way, we're not all wandering in the crowd individually. Thoughts?

    April 22

  • Melody

Just trying to think of a way for us to meet up at the concert. I will have my cell on me ...or any other suggestions... not much of a big sign person and my kids won't be along to have an excuse for a balloon:)

    April 21

  • Melody

Funk and soul and an outdoor concert... I am there! Thanks for the youtube... looks like it will be a great concert!

    April 21

  • Ed

Here's a clip of "100 Days, 100 Nights". It was filmed with two vintage TV cameras in black and white, to make it look like it was shot in the 60's.
