Wincopin Trails, Savage Park - 6:30 PM Thursday 8/22/2013

This walk takes a little less than an hour if we do the Red Trail and about an hour and 15 minutes if we do the Green Trail.

Savage Park

Savage, Maryland

Wincopin Trails off Vollmerhausen Road

A nice Google MAP -

Info from Howard County about these trails (website says a trail map is coming soon):

These are unpaved trails, with some rocks and branches creating an uneven surface.

I recommend sturdy sneakers or hiking boots/trail shoes. If your dog likes to take a dip in the river, there are many places where they can get wet!!!

Bring water for you and your dog and waste pickup bags.

The parking lot for the Wincopin trails of Savage Park is located on Vollmerhausen Road, a short distance downhill from the Patuxent Valley Middle School. If you're using a GPS or Mapquest, you can get there by entering: 9271 Vollmerhausen Road, Jessup MD.

If you're coming from Savage-Guilford Road, it is a little parking lot on your Left.  If you are coming from Murray Hill Road it is a little parking lot on your right.

The forecast is calling for a pop-up thunderstorm. I will watch the hourly forecast this afternoon and check the radar. It is unlikely that I would cancel because of scattered patches of rain. But if there is a lot of rain, check this web page before you head out to drive to the trail.
